Wow. 15 to 15 (at this time.) Burlington frickin' Vermont, with a scenery-laden tourist magnet of a MUP. They spent 5 million building a MUP bridge over a river, and they can't throw out a few bucks every year so people can continue to ride (and walk) on it. It's one of my sore spots. I could rant for hours. Lots of people want it plowed, but the city has all sorts of excuses.
Granted it does need some pavement upgrades, but they could run a sidewalk blower over it easily.

Anyway, the MUP along West River Road through downtown is definitely plowed and I'm pretty sure it is all the way SE towards Minnehaha Falls. It might still be closed under the new 35W bridge though.
In my experience, the MUPs are generally plowed in Minneapolis but they may not plow both the pedestrian and the cycling sections, though they do in at least some places.
IMHO they do a better job on the MUPs than they do the streets.

Yep. the MUP that connects our town with the next gets plowed for about 3.5 miles, then when it leaves our city limits it dosen't. It's not your average follow the side of the road MUP, it cuts across cow pastures and woods. It's pretty vital for a lot of college students and the rest of the lower emissions public, as it provides a much more direct and safer route than the roads.

As our MUP is paved only on one side yes for the paved portion and no for the other. This allows for snow shoe and cross country skiing activities as well as biking etc.

Here they leave them unplowed for the XC skiers. And yet, the XC ski tracks I see are parallel to the MUP or crossing it. Never traveling on it.

I remember one time, at band camp, the MUP got pretty plowed when the counselors busted me drinking a bottle of Cuervo and dumped it out on the path. I hear that MUP has been bumming loose change from those that use it ever since.
Happy now?

Not safe for work
MUPs don't get plowed at all. Heck, the bike lanes will be filled with snow after the roads are plowed.
Last winter the snow on the MUPs didn't melt until May. I'm hoping for a dry winter.

HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
(stops laughing 10 minutes later)
our city plowing the MUPs?
they barely half-assedly plow half of the streets here, I think suggesting that they plow the MUPs would send them into a 20-minute fit of laughter.
good thing we generally only get snow for 1-2 weeks in the dead of winter here.

mine gets plowed more frequently than I do but without any real dependable regularity.
when it snows I usually give it a day or two before I head out on it and find out it's unridable when I'm trying to get to work in a hurry.

No laughter here, but they have signs warning that the paths aren't maintained in the winter. In my township, they plow the two inner lanes of the 4 lane main road into town. Much later, they come back and plow the two outer lanes onto the MUP. So I guess you can say they plow the MUP, it's just that they are plowing the snow onto it so it is just about the last paved surface to be clear of snow/ice. I'm trying to figure out how to get around that, although the area where I would miss the mup is only 2 blocks long. However, it's uphill, and traffic is commonly going 60 on a 40 mph road.

It sucks but fortunately we don't get much snow. My studded snow tires work well on the WO&D with fresh snow and ice. The problem is when it gets slushy and full of foot/paw prints, then freezes into a very uneven surface. Besides the extra power required to push through this stuff it takes a lot of effort to keep the bike stable at any speed - let alone 15+ mph.

Fort Collins plows the bike paths very promptly after a snow storm. During one storm, most of the roads on my commute hadn't been plowed yet, but the MUP had been.

Out of curiosity, anyone, what sort of plow equipment is used on your MUPs? A full-sized dump truck type, or what? What do they do if they meet trail users?
When I'm out on the highway in a snowstorm, I'm always watching my helmet mirror for that amber revolving strobelight that means there's a full-sized snowplow truck gaining on me at +40mph. Exciting!

Little s-10 type trucks with blades. They will stop moving and let you roll by if they see you. I don't usually see the plows since I hit the road/mup by 0415 at the latest. Coming home is nice! Some drifting or icy patches but not bad really. Colorado city riders are kind of spoiled with our MUP system.
Thankfully after what I've read on the two MUP topics!
