Are the spoke cards high performance too? ;)

BeretCyclist 09-25-08 10:29 PM

Hehe, yes the spoke cards have about a .00007 mph gain!, haha.

Evel - I would definantly buy again. I only got the single light. And believe me, its enough. The roads are completly dark as well.

I didn't get the daul simply because of the price and run time. 90 lumins, which is low for my system is enough to cruise at 20 mph with ease. Though i would use it on high, and on high I have went over 30 with no worries. Let me put it this way. But I really like the 3:30 hour on high and 7 hour on low run times. The daul is half. Mounting is simple, and with a one button operation it doesn't get any more convenient. A blue light lets you know you have juice and red means in your running low. For $190 bucks you can't go wrong! I would say its perfect for your ride.

Yes, That is a Liftmaster (TM) garage door opener.

I think I would just install a keypad remote outside the garage and be done with it, or at least commit to a cable tie over a rubber band! :) But then you have duct tape in other spots so I guess it all makes sense.

This is my newly, slightly refurbished bike. It was all rusted and the rear hub was destroyed when I acquired it. I was going to put in a new hub, but my LBS had some low priced wheels - so I picked one up and a new freewheel. Lubed and adjusted everything, and here it is.

From what I can tell from the decals, its a Ridgeway GX750. Can't find much online about it, but I assume its a department store bike.

I still need some fenders on it, so I don't get my uniform muddy (military). But other than that, good to go. What locks would y'all recommend?

ban guzzi 09-27-08 11:12 AM

Nice fantom. Maybe tweak your rear rack to level?

sorry...inner neebish coming out.

baldsue 09-27-08 11:55 AM

Yeah, already did that. Also cut the brake cables and crimped the ends. Had to mess with the rack to fit the rear brakes.

This is the remedy to my rear brake/rack struts problem. I'm hoping the solution won't rust but this is an interim solution until I can find something better or at least rust-proof. I found the little braces in my toolkit so I don't know what they're made of.

new bike

Just picked this up today at the LBS. After going around 3 or 4 different shops 3 times each, I finally settled on the trek 7.2 fx, half for comfort, half for price. So far i really like it, not to mention that this is my first non-department store bike. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Anyway, I plan to do my 12 mile RT commute by the spring.

I think I'd rather put p-clamps, or tubus adapters higher up on the seat stays than try to angle around the brakes.

Or get a set of regular cantilevers for the back instead of the V-brakes.

DieselAmy 09-28-08 01:00 AM

Just got a 2008 Bianchi Axis. I moved the rack and stuff from another bike so I need to fix the angle and install a computer still, but overall it's a fast, fun ride, at least compared to my old mountain bike.

I need to improve my hauling system. I like the flexibility of the reusable shopping bag cargo-netted to the rear, but my laptop is a little too big for it so I get this bulky arrangement with it sitting diagonally and clothes packed around it. Most days I don't have to haul a computer so I don't want to get too crazy with specialty bags.

I thought I wanted another flat bar bike but after riding this and a couple other cross bikes (sorry, I tried a CrossCheck but it just didn't feel good to me), I discovered the rotated hand position on top of the forward brakes really makes my ergonomic arm injury feel much better! I also had the LBS install another set of brakes up front like some of the other cross bikes have. I feel more stable using those most of the time.

That's one of our dogs, Walt, who sniffs and licks the tires when I get home.

After being cleaned up by a motorbike last year on my giant whilst coming home, I replaced it with this. Lovely bike for the streets.
My marathons (700 x 28) will be back on soon as autumn and winter approaches.

Thanks for the suggestion. Searched 3 hardware stores this morning before finding "rubber insulated clamps". Looks much cleaner and no sharp edges.

Reminded me of this bike from Hiawatha Cyclery, on which they used a indexed bar-end shifter with a Problem Solvers Inline Travel Agent to control an Alfine hub. Here's the link to the flickr photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hiawath...ry/2347659679/

Picked this one up about 2 weeks ago, to replace my Giant Sedona MB that had been my commuter...
as you can see, clifford still keeps an eye on my ride while I work...Nashbar rack, Transit panniers, Ascent rack bag...

kenl666 09-29-08 09:36 AM

just out of curiosity, what rear derailleur is that? I don't see the cable loop, never seen one like that.

DCvision 09-29-08 09:55 AM

@kenl666 if you are talking about mine, it's just hidden under the pannier bag... I just have stock equipment on the FCR2...
