My new commuter. Just drove it for the first time today and I love it.

Anyone one else unable to read the last page of posts on this thread? (database error)

TwoHeadsBrewing 12-04-09 12:11 PM

It's a common problem since the "upgrade". There is actually no page 238 (or whatever last page number it shows).

Since you mention it, I am not currently getting the database error but I have been pretty constantly since the 'upgrade'.

anaheim flash 12-04-09 12:52 PM

i have been looking at that same series of felt on the website.....i am sooo very jealous.

any complaints?

bugly64 12-04-09 06:26 PM

There's nothing on that page yet.

Ever since the update to the site, I've been getting them. Only infrequently can I view the pages without this error. It seems that when I get logged out, I can view the pages, but if I click from my email and I'm logged int, I get the error. The error page says that the error has been logged, and since I presume I'm not the only one getting these, that the admin must have a ton of these, and is aware of the sit. I hope he can fix it someday...

Not yet, I've only driven it for 20 miles until now :) But I really like it so far. I like the way it rides and like the way it looks.

Much more comfortable than my old bike with its 23mm tires.

I saw an upgrade last night, and today am able to see the last page (or, possibly, am no longer getting a nonexistant number as the supposed last page). So, seems fixed for me. Odd.

Why O why do you hipsters put riser bars on a negative stem?!

It is not only a kludge, it looks awful!

You have two brakes though, very respectable!

My girlfriend's Schwinn Collegiate, probably about the same age as that Super Le Tour, has a similar stem with cruiser bars. It came stock this way.

I just recently started commuting to work full-time a week before Thanksgiving week. Bought this baby on Craigslist (mainly for the rigid frame/for and the Bontrager slicks) for a cool $75. Added lights, lock, frame pump and small under-seat tool kit with spare tube. I've put an estimated 250 miles since purchasing it and aim to start putting more on.

I've been commuting to work 10 miles round trip and am quickly getting tired of not having any rain protection, and only having a messenger bag to carry items. Rack/panniers as well as fenders coming soon.

All of you guys have some awesome bikes! Keep taking great pictures. I apologize for the low-quality pic. My only camera on hand is my Palm Centro.

grinningfool 12-06-09 05:04 AM

Holy cow, that's a lot of seat post showing.

I know, but that's what I get for buying a bike via Craigslist. Cheap MTBs don't come in sizes. The frame isn't nearly as long as I'd like it so the only thing I have any control over is the seat height. I'm almost 6'1" so I almost need more sea tpost. I'm saving for better bike so this will become a backup or spare parts.

My prime mover for several years now. About 50 miles/week commuting and errands. This photo was shot on a 60 mile picnic loop out into the country working off a bit of Thanksgiving.

I will have to take some pics tomorrow... this was taken before we got hammered with snow.

The roads were pretty much impassable for the past two days.

BTW - This thread is one of my all time favourites along with Foo's "Post Your Rigs"... there are few places one can see such a diverse collection of bikes and one cannot help but appreciate the thought that goes into building up these bikes.

If I complimented every one I'd have as many posts in this thread as there are pictures.

noglider 12-07-09 12:02 AM

Yeah, me too.

Now please tell us what "hammered with snow" means in Edmonton. I see you had a good bit on the ground already when you took that picture. We got a light dusting last night, the first snowfall of the year, if you can even call it that. Some of it is still on some cars and lawns, but it will all be gone soon.

That picture was only a little dusting of snow... I have ridden up this hill on many occasions (in good weather) and the other day people actually thought they could drive up it... the grade tops out at something like 18 %.

http://www.canada.com/technology/Bra...195/story.html

Traffic came to a standstill, the highways were closed, fligths were cancelled, and most notable was the fact Sixty wasn't out there riding his bike... save to go to his shop which is only a mile away... and that took half an hour as it was more of a hike than a bike.

It doesn't look like a lot. I guess it got slick quickly.

lbear 12-07-09 02:29 AM

You guys really get those arctic blasts! We (Portland) are complaining when we have a week thats below freezing. We're such wimps.

Sure, it's cold, but it's a dry cold. Personally, I'm not complaining.

Sixty Fiver 12-07-09 11:12 AM

Ours is also a very dry cold which makes the low temps much more bearable... unless the wind picks up.

And we also get a great deal of sunshine as we're one of Canada's sunniest cities.

It was pretty crisp this morning when I walked the girls to the bus... my youngest has no tolerance for cold while my oldest daughter did not even feel the need to cover her face... and it was -20 C.

pancake4life 12-07-09 12:41 PM

There are some nice bikes in this thread.

Heres mine
