Dude, give some details on this thing! Those aren't 650b's are they?
I have a Kilo TT, and I love it. I'm currently working on a 3 speed fixed gear, but I'm using an old Trek frame to do it. I thought about using the Mercier, but it doesn't really have clearance for fenders unless I want to use like 23c tires. Also, it doesn't have any braze-ons for shifter cables. |

Just picked up a new one for my wife. Pretty stoked about it, actually...I've been ogling the Marinonis for a while now. Even if it's not for me, it's still some nice eye candy.
We have a rear rack and bottle cage, still need to locate some fenders I'm happy with, then it'll be all set for spring. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185519 |
neil - you are a good husband.

Here's the bike I commuted around on while in the Gulf, older pic... I ended up tossing on a set of Kenda Kwest 26 x 1.5's:

Here is a Diamondback hybrid I bought on Sunday. I went hoping it would be a road bike that would work for a friend that wants one, but it turned out to be this solid hybrid. I was there so I offered $50 and they accepted.
I decided I would try and make into a cross bike which is something I have wanted to try and do for a while. I added specialized drop bars (I really like them I had never mounted them before) and they have alot of great hand positions. I added some different wheels and some new cross tires I had laying around. For some reason I like the paint job. Its like the bike is made out of an Oreo Blizzard. Mmmm... Don't mind the long cables and poor cable routing because I can't find my cutters. The seat I got for $1 at the thrift store today to replace the fat one that was on it. It rides great from the living room to the dining room. Its going to be a few days before I can get out and ride this one with all the snow around here. http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/IMG_2166.jpg |

I thought you would find this interesting. I picked this up today. Its supposed to be a 2009 Trek 3700 heavily modified including polished up. The guy I bought it from said the PO chopped off the rear brake posts so now its a disc brake or nothing frame. It has everything except I need a mounting plate or something to get the rear one to work. I got basically a complete bike with disc brakes plus a bonus hub, wheel and some rims. I am not sure what I am going to do with this bike, but I have wanted to try out one with disc brakes so I guess I got my wish. Part of me wishes I had passed on the deal though. http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/IMG_2167.jpg |
My Miyata finally got it's accessories completed. Brand new wheels with Nexus 3-Speed IGH, Nexus front brake/dynamo hub, Suntour absorber, and basket with cover.

Theres such a thing as cheap disc's so long as you already have the wheels, heres an adapter that should work for that frame a buddy at work got one for his GF and it seems to work finehttp://cgi.ebay.com/Rear-disc-brake-...item2eb28627ac

Keep an eye on www.chainlove.com they have been having the Avid BB7's on sale for $39.99 as of late.

I know how you feel monster pile on not being able to pass up a good deal, ive been trying to wait on buying stuff for my trek until some of my stuff sells on the bay, but i went to the local co-op on my lunch break earlier and could not pass a XT lever/shifter set for 15$
|
The disc brakes turned out to be crap. Oh well, I can get my money back transferring the good stuff over to a good old steel frame. If I was serious about this bike I would put some nicer stuff on it anyway. There are some spots he missed in taking paint off and the bottom bracket isn't the best. I don't have the cash to buy real disc brakes right now and I don't feel like messing with that so I'll just hold onto the frame for now. Its the first poor buy of the year and probably one of the only ones I have had in quite a while. I still got a couple decent things off of it.
The good thing is I am excited about building up one of the steel frames in the garage. I think the small framed 1993 Hardrock Ultra is the best cadidate. It still has pretty nice paint. |

My commute was a little warmer and wetter today... :)

new commuter/touring bike in my garage..KHS Flite 220,250 euros, off season deiscount..
when I bought it it looked like this http://www.deviantpics.com/images/img1602.jpg after some changes stock wheels replaced with novatec hubs + jalco d27 36h rims + no name spokes 2200 shifters replace with tiagra , rear 2200 derauliler with deore, deore cassete and chain..so now setup is 2x9 .. this is low end road / commuter bike, one of the cheapest I think(bought on sale for 250 euro).. but in Croatia I can't choose some touring/commuter dedicated bike like jamis aurora, trek 520 or surly lht.. there is no cr-mo frames at all to buy, this was only option, so I replaced some parts from my old commuter and made the best of it.. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...c/IMG_1603.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...c/IMG_1611.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...c/IMG_1604.jpg |

My winter beater:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/b3adffca.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/451ef282.jpg First bike I ever bought in 1997 a Trek Mountain Track 800 Sport. Most has been changed minus the headset, BB, front wheel, and frame of course. This thing get's a lot of miles especially as a loaner bike or when my main is in the shop. Just put linears on this year and the improvement is there but not as much clearance as the old canti's (factory original). |
New pic of the Soma, ready to ride in to work tomorrow...

Got Fisty setup with reflective tape today for commuter mode, will try to add more to the sides of the bike I just don't want to get it on the paint since this stuff doesn't seem to come off when set (resale options in future), I'm thinking the cranks would be a good place.

@xb_Nutt: How did you get the rear caliper mounted on the inside of the chainstays? All the pics on Soma's site show the caliper mounts outboard.
-Gene- |
I believe one of the years they did the brakes on the chainstay like that @ 2005?
