I'd also like to know about those fork adapters.

Okay, I don't know what he's using, but I got mine from here: http://paulcomp.com/lightmounts.html

Mine's mounted lower (see next post).

I retired the rack and the old Topeak trunk bag and panniers. Replaced with this Carradice Nelson Longflap with Bagman carrier.

Now maybe I can quit spending money on bike stuff for awhile.

My first commuter :D

Looks great, how do you like it? How far is your commute? The red is a nice touch on that bike.

SarahE719 03-26-11 02:08 PM

So far it's great. It being my first one, I don't have anything to compare it to so maybe ignorance is bliss? No, but really, I've enjoyed it every time I've ridden it and yes, the red is an attractive addition. I did have to change the saddle to one that was women's specific after the first week of riding and am thinking of changing to narrower tires. I love the rack with the quick track system from Topeak - super convenient! My commute is between 7-8.5 miles each way (depending on the route I take).

Thought I would post a few pics of my 2011 Salsa Vaya build. You see a lot of the new orange bikes, but not so many of the charcoal. I'd like to say I put a lot of thought into the build, but it was really just parts I already had for the most part. 105 triple crank/brifters, Ultegra derailleurs, Brooks saddle, Cygolight Trident Extra light, Sun Ringle Equalizer wheels, Planet Bike fenders, Avid7 disks, Michelin City 700X32 tires...(yeah, I know the chain is too short. It's all I had in the garage and I wanted to take it for a test ride!)

I used to have that length of commute... it was a great distance to get started. My commute is 17 miles now and I just don't have enough time in the day to ride it frequently.

Sweet build... hope it rides out as nice as it looks.

It gets me over the bridge to and from work rather nicely. That's about all I usually ask of it. I did ride the NY Century with it last fall, though. It didn't complain.

That bike looks like business, nice!

I'll be commuting on this as I prepare for a Colo/Utah bikepacking trip in May.

I'm in love with your bike and hope my wife doesn't read this... Wish I had kept my Marathon though, too bad yours had to go too.

New budget bike for fitness, up coming charity ride, and probably some commuting too. It's a 2009 "Schwinn Fastback" I picked it up on Amazon Warehouse for $160 less then the regular price because it was an open box. It's a mix of some ok components (Sora RD & STI levers, FSA Tempo crankset, Alex R500 rims, FSA Intellaset headset), and some underwhelming Schwinn branded components.

It's also going to be my first foray into clipless off the spin bike. :twitchy:

Here is my Windsor "The Hour" single speed loaded with a few days worth of groceries. Nashbar "LDT" rear rack, Nashbar "daytrekker" panniers, WTB "Silverado" saddle, powergrips/origin 8 track pedals, and origin 8 bullhorns.

Indeed, though with significant modifications. Brand is covered up because I am not necessarily proud of riding a Performance brand bicycle, but also that I think the less eye-catching a bicycle is, even if it's not a premium brand, the less likely it is to be targeted for theft.
