35 miles SW. 12 miles past Leiper's Fork close to the Maury County lin. 0.5 mi off the Natchez Trace Parkway. Cycling is really unbelievable in this area. Used to live in Music Row on 17th. Rode out to Charlotte Pike to Old Hickory Blvd. everyday for about 5 years. 20 miles rt. Heavy urban traffic both directions. :notamused:

Now any commute is at least 15 miles and always starts and ends rural. Do alot of night rides out on the Trace w/my fg. It's always great. There's an added dimension as the traffic rate is so low on the Trace. Sometimes, I'll do a 40 mi rt fg ride at night and not see a car the whole time. I'm really, really blessed.

If you want to come up shoot me a PM as my wife and I have a cottage available. It's called Cycler's Rest. The guy across the road has 12-1500 acres w/50 head of cattle, so we're pretty far out.

So new in fact that I haven't had a chance to buy water bottles O: ) one was water, one was tea, the gatorade sadly was poured out.

Thanks. I love the look of the lugs. It is the most comforable road bike I have ridden. Like sitting on a pillow. The Brooks saddle is really comfortable. It has 33m tires that are inflated to 75 psi,which helps soften the ride. Bumps don't jar my head anymore like they do on my road bike. Handling is great. Very stable on descents. Easy to drive, so to speak.

Only bad side is it seems slower than my road bike. But I don't think that is the bike's fault. I think it may be due to the lower air pressure, and wider tires than my 700 x 25, 120psi tires. The bike is only ~2 lbs. more than my road bike. So that gets lost in the mix when I sit on it.

I love the bike and hope to get another Rivendell one day. Great ride. Beautiful bike. I really can't say enough about the smoothness of the ride. Like riding on a cloud. Rivendells are apparently all they are cracked up to be.

Not trying to get too personal, but how heavy are you? I was pumping my tires to 120+ psi when I weighed over 220 -- and they're 700x23, not 25. I'm down to 188-190 now and pump them to 105-110. If I had 25's, they'd be a bit lower than that.

I am 165 lbs. My 700c bike's tires said 120 max, so I would keep them between 110-120 on the road bike.

Try 90 front/100 rear on the road bike the next chance you get. No, it won't be nearly as smooth as the 33's, but it'll be nicer than 110-120, and you still shouldn't get any pinch flats, either.

Tire Width=25: Pressure(psi) = 0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs + 43.33
Tire Width=28: Pressure(psi) = 0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs + 33.33

Tire Width=32: Pressure(psi) = 0.17 * Rider Weight in lbs + 41.67
Tire Width=37: Pressure(psi) = 0.17 * Rider Weight in lbs + 26.67

Front tire: 0.9 * pressure of rear tire

I asked the question about tire pressure recently, and someone posted a link to this article: https://www.adventurecycling.org/res...SIRX_Heine.pdf

Basically there the tire pressure is based on the weight on the tire and the tire size itself. You would need something like a bathroom scale, and someone to help hold you up steady as you sit on the bike with the scale under each tire to see what the weight distribution is, and then use that to determine optimal tire pressure for the front and rear tire.

By the way, I actually beat my all time fastest commute time today that I had done on my road bike with the Bleriot. Top speed on that route, too. With loaded rear rack bag and tired legs from last weekends big ride.
So I guess it is just as fast as the road bike is, tires and all.

I had been losing pace on bad shifts as I haven't got adjusted to using the compact crankset and bar ends on the bleriot. But today I was feeling like I was actually getting the shifting down good and could keep up the pace. Maybe that had something to do with it.

No kidding, that's just plain stupid! Here's one of my commuters... a Huffy Black Widow with my old Brooks B17. ;)

Don't laugh, it was a gift. I actually rather enjoy it. However, I recognize it will need some work. And slick tires.
