This is my wife's worldsport, bought new in 87 or 88, still pretty much stock (new fenders, seat, handlebar tape). I started commuting on it myself, but then gave up and got my own bike. Meantime I was regearing this one for the topography around here (52/40 to 52/36, 6 spd freewheel now goes from 14 to 30t).

I added a new ride to the stable today... it'll take some duty off my commuter bike on light days (to/from work).

I think this is my first post here, so I'll start off with a pic of my 1968 Raleigh Sports new replacement: http://www.ornery.net/images/DSC08874b.jpg Got my wife a used 2005 model a few weeks ago, which included a suspension fork: http://www.ornery.net/images/DSC08875b.jpg Thanks for all the contributions to a great thread! |

My road bike as seen on my commute in this morning. I ride the same bike rain or shine, but I'll put a garbage bag over the pack before I strap it on the rack when it's raining.

She's a Long Haul Trucker. Looks mini b/c it's a 42cm frame. I'm really small, so yeah, she sort of is miniature... it is amazing to finally ride a bike that is the right size for me. :D |
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but as they say, "the only stupid question is the one you don't ask", so here goes...
How do you post photos so that the hi-res version appears on screen? I am able to post links to photos stored on my ISP, and I know how to post the low res thumbnails, but I can't find anything in the help file or elsewhere to getting the photos to appear within my post automatically. Please help. |
The bikeforums ain't geared for viewing your uploaded, hi-res shots right in the thread. That would be sucking a lot of their bandwidth everytime somebody viewed the page, rather than only when the thumbnail was clicked.

My sturdy Strida. Great for bimodal transportation (bike, subway) here in NYC. Long time lurker here by the way, and this is my first post. Hi Folks!

I started using my mtb as my commuter since the streets in the city are so pitted and potholed --- was riding my roadbike but ended up rebuilding my back wheel. This thing handles all the problems I run into and can go jump a curb or go offroad if I need to. I ride it year round on and off road. It's kind of a Tank.:p
I carry my clothing/papers/food in a backpack -- oh yeah and it gets the luxury of riding an elevator 5 floors everyday and getting parked in our "bike garage" - an unused office a few of us use to lock our bikes up all day. http://www.treadmillscentral.com/ima...UMMER_OPEN.jpg |
