That's super cool. I love my jones loop on my Krampus. Are those jones-brand grips or something else? A handlebar bag is perfect to occupy that new space. Although someday I want to install a Narwhal (admittedly more for the look than because I 'need' to get aero)

Yes, they are from Jones; they're these. What's a Narwhal? Besides a whale.

Oopx sorry, I didn't realize Jones spelled it Gnarwal. Because who doesn't want their bike to be a unicorn?

Ah! I have seen this. The trick will be to find a pointed, spiral grip for it. :)

You're right! Jones makes a foam grip for it, but you could always wrap with bar tape! The point would be the tricky part

Grocery run.

My daily all weather commuter. Built the frame in 2015 and hit the 5000 mile mark a few weeks ago.

I've been commuting on my fatbike for about a month and a half now (not pictured: the rear fender and light as it won't fit in the stand with them on the seatpost). I um...get a lot of funny looks from people up here lol. ^_^

I love this thread. Here is my bike in my office today. It needs cleaning and lubing.

Which one is that, Tom? I like the colour and the "used daily" look. Any details? Thread or other photos?

It's my 1974 Raleigh International. I got the frame and fork with primer on it. I painted it with a brush, so the paint is rough. I built it with a weird mixture of components. The too-long thread about it is here. It took years to get it to this point, and I still haven't installed fenders as I've been meaning to.

The front hub is a dynamo, so the lights come on when the bike rolls. The rear wheel is quite lightweight, so it makes sense to have the rack in front, over the stout front wheel. The drivetrain is 3x10, so I can ride this bike on all kinds of terrain. With the rack, it weighs around 28 or 29 pounds. The saddle is a Brooks C17 Cambium. The pedals are Shimano PD-M324 which are SPD on one side, and I can use regular shoes on the other side.

Very nearly my dream commuter/tourer/bikepacker Surly Ogre. Just added a Velocity Cliffhanger wheelset with a Shutter Precision PD-8 dynamo. Bought a Planet Bike light and fork mount bracket and took it apart and drilled it to make a rack-mounted bracket for the light. Also, it has places for all of the beverages. Suck it, Daylight Savings Time!https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...661604ee26.jpg

I got it at an LBS here in Australia; an unheard of brand (XDS CT430) but I am happy with it. Pic taken with a Nikon F2 on Ilford FP4+ developed in FOMA R09.

Makes me want to get my Trek SU100 back on the road. Perhaps this weekend I will have time enough.

New to me commuter bike. I got it with intentions to use it for winter bike, but I'm liking it so much I may use it exclusively.

Cool. I would upgrade that with a pair of Gevenalle brake levers, so those barends could move up top and be more convenient like brifters.

I’d totally want them up there if it were hillier here or if I did more off-roading. STIs on my list of possible updates for next year! Wanted to keep it cheap while I tried the bike with drops. It does really very well with them.

Tell you what, these bar ends are way easier than the downtube shifters I was using.

One of mine. Partly I ride it as a gag but it fits the bill for flattish shorter trips to transit stations and for errands, especially carrying stuff. Good dynamo lights, belt drive, 3-speed sturmey.

Built up from a frame I was given, turns out it's quite nice to ride too!

do you have batteries in the 3rd bottle mount near the bottom bracket?

Only a couple of spare 2032s for the blinky lights, otherwise it's where my tool kit and tubes all fit :D

TxSpeedster, I know this is an old post, but I've been trying to set up my Straggler better, and was wondering how you got the rack and fenders on your bike. Are they sharing a connection point? I have a rack and fenders on the rear, and the rack is practically under my seat.

TransitBiker 02-03-19 07:25 PM

Have you considered a different seat? I’ve found that firmer, more trim seats make for an easier time for lower back & buns... just a thought!
