I done fell down.

So coming back from the LBS tonight (picked up a much better bag to go on my back rack.) As I'm making a left turn onto a road the left wheel on my son's trailer catches the traffic island in the middle of the road causing two things to happen: 1) forward motion comes to a complete halt, throwing me over the top and 2) his trailer rolls over and ends up upside-down.

My first reaction is to make sure traffic doesn't hit us as we're in the middle of the road. I look down to see his trailer upside down and turn it over, open up the front flap and make sure he's ok. He just kind of laughed at me and said "I was upside down!" (he's 3.) I do a quick once-over of the bike, myself, him and the trailer and nothing so much as a scratch on anything. In the end a theatric but uneventful crash.

As far as I'm concerned the Blackburn Copilot trailer he rides in gets an A+ for safety.

Ow, ugh! That sounds like a scary incident, but glad it turned out all right - hope you weren't too banged up. That must be some kind of trailer -- does he have a seatbelt-type arrangement?

If only a rollover were the worst thing that traffic can throw at it. Sometimes you need a spill to remind you to be careful.

It has a full 5 point harness hooked up to a crossbar that goes over the top of the trailer... It's pretty hardcore, and I thought over the top before tonight.

I definitely counted my lucky stars. Traffic gives me a wiiiiiide berth when I'm pulling him, though. Nobody has a problem cutting within inches of me when I'm solo but you put a kid trailer down and people go out of their way to make sure they're on the safe side.

A friend of my in college had a gnarly commute to school and eventually mounted a kid carrier on his bike with his backpack in it. He said it made ALL the difference.

Glad everyone is OK. That had to be scary. Don't tell the wife....oh yeah....a 3 year old. You are soooo busted.

"Mommy, I was UPSIDE_DOWN!!!"

I was always to afraid to ride on the road with my son in the trailer. I'm glad to hear everything is good.

You know, that's been my experience, too. With the trailer attached, drivers give me even wider berth (they're usually pretty good, anyway). Of course, most of the time my daughter is in the trailer, so i appreciate it; but occasionally i just use the trailer to haul a big load (last time it was about 70# of books on my morning commute), and it's really helpful. Plus, with the trailer, i can carry my super-heavy-duty cable lock---the one i used to use to lock my motorcycle down when i lived in SoCal.

Yeeeouch! Glad yer both okay. I wouldn't mind picking up a kiddie trailer just for some of the busier roads I traverse.
