My new commuter, finally!

after a crazy and stressful UPS and ebay seller ordeal, which ended quite well (and can be followed HERE ) i FINALLY have my Surly Cross Check commuter all geared up and ready to roll! you all KNOW how psyched i am!

here are some crappy pics. the fenders are the 45mm width type. the rack i had on my MTB. i have old cannondale panniers and a princeton tec EOS front light. Planet Bike rear light and a couple knog frogs for lateral visibility. (turns out if you're dextrous you can use the frogs as signal lights! love them.)

the tires were swapped by the seller from the stock whatever-they-were to specialized houffalize's i like them so far. went out for my first after-dark test-ride this evening--really fun!

It took a month from the time i recieved the damaged bike to thte time i got the bike all put together. well worth the wait, though! can't wait for my first ride in to work!

Nice bike for sure. How old is your house? Looks like you could use some electrical wiring updated.

Don't like the screw in fuses, huh?

I vote workshop though rather than house there judging by the look of it.

My house was built in 1905. When we moved in 13 years ago it had 60 amp service with screw in fuses. Pull one block and all the lights went out. Pretty scarey for sure. Updated to 200 amp and wish I had added more. If I want to add some real machinery I'll need a separate service to take it. Looks like I'll wait till I get the new garage to add that stuff.

Sweeeet bike! I don't think I'd be able to sleep if that was waiting for me to ride in the morning. Welcome to the Cross-Check cult.

Crazy-cool bike! Dude you got it going on! Funny thing...girlfriend is always looking over my shoulder when I'm online or reading a magazine to see if I'm looking at dirty pictures because of my gaze....then she comes over and says, "you're going ga-ga over bikes??? You're nuts!"

Well, maybe we all are! Please...no more pics!

thanks!

house is 100 years old. the wiring somewhat more recent than that! actually the fuses are a pain, and they cost money to replace when thay blow, but not as much as replacing the service! but it works as-is if we're mindful of what's on what circuit. the kitchen tends to be tricky--no hot pot making water for coffee whilst the toast is a-toasting, y'know?

cheers, m
