no, not SOLAS, but in fact it's more like this:

diamond grade
prismatic high intensity
solas
high intensity

I find vanilla high intensity to be plenty bright at all angles.

Is one of these the same as 'Reflexite'?

as far as I'm aware, reflexite is another producer of reflective materials. They're bound to have competitive products to what 3M offers.

the best sort of reflective tape is prism based and reflexite offers that too.

Plain old Scotchlite 680 tape comes in a bazillion colours, and that's typically what companies sell as helmet pinstriping or reflective helmet designs decals.

I've got 1/2" black Scotchlite 680 tape on all my frame tubes, both fenders and all over my helmet and have had drivers catch up with me at red lights and tell me they saw my lights/reflectors over a 1/4 mile away.

any of those would work.

to the left, 3M engineering grade, made from glass balls.
to the right, high intensity prismatic. I'm not entirely sure it's 3M, or another brand, but it's really bright.

the difference in brightness between the two is simply amazing. prismatics are printed out in a honeycomb or diamond pattern, glass ball just looks metalic.
