Let a cop go with a warning today!

On the way to work this AM an NOPD unit leaving a parallel parking spot to my right pulled out in front of me - not too bad but I did have to stop pedaling and slow down. About ten blocks down the road he caught a red light and behold...his right tail light didn't light up.

So I roll up next to him on the driver's side, knocked on his window. When he rolled down the glass I told him "Your right tail light is burnt out, but I am letting you off with a warning this time". Without even cracking a smile he said "Thanks", then made a right turn on red.

Well, partly because when I tapped on his window he was lighting a smoke and I scared the living **** out of him. He jumped out of his gunbelt and cursed - twice. That's why I kept a straight face. It was extremely difficult tho, but I have been grinning like an idiot all day since.

I can think of six out of eight cops this month who didn't get a warning.

If I would have been wearing the camera, I would have never attracted his attention. I doubt that I am on their radar, but if one cop in the city has seen my vids then they all have. I can't take that chance. But you are right, that would have been priceless. I certainly thought about it immediately afterward.

At least he didn't have a road cup, or go cup - whatever you-all call 'm - then you would had to write him up. What was he smoking? LOL
