Do you also ride in a group?

Bicycle commuting is almost always a solo activity.

How many of us also ride with a club or even just a casual group of friends an a regular basis?

Nope. I can count the number of times I've ridden with someone else on one hand (3) since I started riding again in August.

I ride with Club Hypoxia whenever I can. Which is anywhere from 0 to 3 times a month.

If you normally ride with a group every week, use the 1st poll answer.

If you ride with a group, but not every week on average, use the 2cd poll answer.

There's an option missing between "riding every month" (your 3rd) and "never" (your 4th). I didn't vote.

I would like to ride in a group on my way to work every day but I cannot convince my neighbors to start bicycle commuting to work. So for now I am a peloton of one.

Another "none of the above". I'm a commuter, and I do road rides, and I'm pretty much a dedicated loner.

A Bike is a vehicle, just like a car is a vehicle.
Do you go on group drives in your car?
Then why go on group rides on your bike?

I think group rides are silly, never saw the appeal.

i commute into the city 'with' two co-workers. we dont all meet up and go i just leave at my time i leave home and usually the more powerful co-worker who lives a little further away from work than me ends up coming up behind me. i step it up at this point and we cruise together. about 15 minutes later we usually blow by the other co-worker who is probably eating a sandwich or something. quick 'goodmornings!' and we see him again 15 minutes after we have arrived at work.

I only ride with others a handful of times a year, so I voted #4, "never ride in groups" as it seems most appropriate of the given choices.

I occasionally take solace in the thought that my BF brothers and sisters who also primarily ride solo are part of my "group". Except we never get in each others way, and I don't have any problem keeping up!

I ride my bike to get some solo time. I rode with a group once in college, and it was OK but I'd rather spend my time in my own company.

I race so I'll try to do at least one of the local hammerfests each week. I also enjoy riding with my wife and kids. We rode to the kids t-league game Saturday--does that count?

I do a lot of event rides because the food support is nice for anything over 40 miles, but I tend to ride alone (relatively) at those events.

Commutes on the Surly LHT (nearly every day, rain or shine) - solo
Club rides on the Madone 5.5 (Wednesday night and Saturday) - 2-6 times per month
TT training on the Cervelo (2-10 times per month) - solo
Racing - 2-3 times per month, during the season (road races and tt's).

The feeling of rolling along at 25 mph in a good-working paceline, is awesome. Likewise, the feeling of rolling down a country road in the spring, chatting with friends.

You've never tried it, so it's no wonder you "never saw the appeal". It would be like trying to explain sex to a priest (well, some priests, anyway), or a sunset to a blind person.

I'm in agreeous (as Fred Durst would say) but I would add off road and exploring by bike in general. There is no poll answer that covers that.

I'm usually just a commuter/errand type guy with the occasional solo ride for fun. Since Janurary, I've been riding with the group once a month:
https://rivercitycyclingsociety.com/

These rides are totally not club rides.

I do two group rides, one the "Taco Ride" at 7am sunday a very casual ride with cheap mexican breakfast in the middle on sunday. Then I do the "Montrose Bike Gang" tuesday midnight ride, mostly inner city exploring with the occasional beer and some community efforts. Both are very social rides and not very fast. I keep weird hours 2nd shift.

I'd like to find a group that would include a Taco stop, or a stop for Huevos rancheros anyway .

I'm doing my first group ride on Saturday.

I'm a member of the Seattle International Randonneurs, and this year I have 5 of their events picked out on the calendar.
I also attend some local club organized century rides to fill in other weekends on my calendar. I think I have 15 events between 100k and 400k in length this year.

A Bike is a vehicle, just like a car is a vehicle.
Neither part of this statement precludes the owner from club membership.

Do you go on group drives in your car?
Yes. I take my Jeep out on the trails with other Jeep drivers. On a recent 200k bike ride, our group was passed by a Porsche owners' group out for a drive. I've been on other rides where we got passed by a Corvette club, and a Harley club. People, in general, are social creatures and like to share their hobby with like-minded people.

Then why go on group rides on your bike?
For many of the same reasons I do with my Jeep. It's fun to have people to talk to on a long trail drive or bike ride. Friends help push me to go faster (on the bike) or try more technical trails (in the Jeep) so I get better at either activity.

I think group rides are silly, never saw the appeal.
Nobody's forcing you to go on one, but I agree with caloso... Try a group ride some time and then decide if they're not for you.
