Yesterday's commute was a double -rode in for the matinee then rode home in a downpour w/lightning. Soaked through but made great time.

Rode in for the evening show- it had cleared. When I came out of the theatre there was a couple who'd just seen the show getting on a big old tandem, another person getting on a folder all this in addition to the crew members who ride in and one fellow actor.

Headed down Mass ave and the bike pedicabs were everywhere. Some of the car drivers were very obviously annoyed at all the bike action. Pretty amazing when someone floors it in a big SUV on a crowded city street.

I guess this thread will be pretty quiet today, but it ain't a holiday here in Canada! (ours was a week ago.)

Rained all weekend, including some snow Saturday night, but it was warm enough that it didn't collect much. It was still wet this morning (but no longer raining) so I took my foul-weather bike (a drop-bar converted mountain bike with 1.5" semi-slick tires and full fenders). I was a little discouraged to find that it took almost 9 minutes longer to get to work compared to my road bike (~10 mile trip one-way). But then again, a good stretch was on mucky gravel trails which really slowed me down.

no commute today, but plan on tomorrow. I didn't get to ride much this weekend so I'm going to make up for it by commuting a few more times this week. That's the only riding time I get during the week.

Didn't commute today, but I did get a great ride in today with my wife. We went down to the Missouri River and looked at the falls.

The roads were nice and empty on the way in to work today ... except for the nag who yammered at me about riding on the bike path from the passenger seat of their car; her husband was nice and polite, though. I really need to school my self on pretending not to hear rather than responding; responding usually does no good anyway.

It was cooler than the last time I rode; I got to where I felt pretty faint on that last ride last Wednesday...

A nice warm ride in at 18 C ( 65 F). Had a good weekend, rode down the C&O canal to Georgetown, tooled around, spent the night and came back on Sunday. The weather was wonderful, but there was allot standing water on both days on the trail. I had my mud flaps on, so not a big deal for me, except when cyclists would stop unexpectedly in front of me at a puddle. I guess I figured riding through it would be better than walking through it.

Wet! Steady rain all the way in, with a headwind. Mid 60sF. I didn't really dress for rain because I'd rather be wet than overheated in my rain gear.

I saw exactly one cyclist (bmike from these forums) and one runner on 5 miles of MUP. I didn't recognize bmike until I was almost next to him because my riding glasses were all wet and fogged up. :p

This morning's ride was little more than I bargained for. It was a nice ride in, dry, warm and, a nice following wind, I left late but made great time. Upon arriving at work my wife called, she had locked the keys in the car and couldn't find the spare. I saved her the hassle of coming downtown to get my keys and decided to ride back home to help her out. So, I humped it home into, what was now a pretty good headwind, and let her into the car. Since I rarely eat anything before my morning ride and, I knew it would be a 30 mile morning for me, I guzzled some water and a gatorade gel pack. I saw her and my son off and jumped back on the bike for another ride in. I also worried that I'd lost my shades on the way home, however, they were waiting for me at my desk on my return. Athough today will have been a good workout (40 total miles once I arrive at home this afternoon) I need to make sure that we either find the spare car key or, replace it asap. Luckily, things are really slow at work so, nobody missed me this morning.

Warm and a bit muggy weather had me sweating pretty good when I got to work. The ride home holds the risk of thunderstorms, so that should be fun!

On the mechanical side, I had had some issues with my chain skipping in a certain gear for the last week. I had changed the chain and adjusted the derailleur but that didn't help, so yesterday I took a good close look at the gears and found that I had a bent tooth which was causing the chain to not feed properly onto the cog in question. I took the cassette apart and bent the tooth back into line. This morning, the problem was gone and the drive train functioned perfectly... like it had just come out of the shop! I think I'm getting better at this wrench-it-yourself thing. Probably would have cost me more than $30 to have the same thing done at my LBS (they seem to like to charge a premium for anything that requires removing the cassette.)

The thermometer read 3C (37F) when I was getting ready, so I dressed like I normally would for 3C, which includes long pants and a windbreaker. Stupid me. 3C in June <> 3C in March apparently. It was sunny and calm, and perhaps a bit on the humid side, and I quickly realized I had dressed far too warmly. Not a bad ride in, otherwise.

68 deg this AM. sky a little over cast and the moon was up. nice when that happens. was a tad humid though. summer is definitely upon us here in Atlanta. Though Edmonton's 3 deg C might be a bit much for us here might be nice to catch a day like that to freshen things up.

Muggy. Legs were heavy.

50F, grey, dry. Thought about driving just 'cause it's been a month now, but thought I'd put those errands off until tomorrow when the forecast suggests rainier. Still wringing out some of last Friday's downpour...

Its going to be in the hi 90's on the way home today. I've been real careful and wearing sunscreen.

Same commute as most days; just a simple 1.72 miles, mostly uphill to the train station.

That is not note-worthy, but my wife and I had a great ride two days ago at Bike the Drive. (They close Lake Shore Drive to car traffic in Chicago once a year at the start of summer) There were hundreds, if not thousands of cyclists and it was a beautiful morning. The pace was relaxed. bugly64: That bike of yours looks like a cross between a tandem and a cargo bike. Do you use it to give rides to someone who sits on the rack and holds onto the bars? Pretty cool.

After a gloomy rainy day yesterday a nice 80 degree sunshine day for my 25 miles today :D

Going to work was pretty cool. 75 degrees with 50% humidity, pretty good weather. Not many cars on the road, though I had to avoid the broken stone countertop and broken glass on the shoulder. The ride home was a bit more interesting... 92 degrees with high humidity. Got shocked by my seat rails by going underneath some electrical towers. Ouch. That really got me moving though...

Beautiful ride in, 86 degrees on ride home. just a pleasant day.

Had a bit of cargo to carry but she's good company... :)

Oh yea, on the ride home the police pulled over a guy on the bicycle in front of me. He started out as far ahead of me as I could see, and I had caught up with him in about a mile. I was about 3 car lengths behind him when a Capitol Police officer (DNR I think) turned on it lights and pulled over in the bike line in front of me and behind him. He looked like he was on a pretty nice bike, I was busy trying not to get run over, so I did not get to see much. Looked like he was probably drunk while I was following him, but her wasnt doing too bad. But when I was about 5 foot from the officer I really wanted to ask her, "was he speedin, officer?" Thought better of it and I was in downtown traffic. Had to focus but it would have been funny. Come to think of it in downtown Indy right afterthe race she might have shot me.

Plenty of people on the bike paths, I'm always thinking of those -5C rides to and from work only a few months ago, it's so wonderful just to throw on a tee shirt and shorts and ride away.. :)

Yep, the warm weather is a great thing. Easy ride in this morning at 18 C (65 F). Yesterday afternoon, I raced ahead of a storm and beat it home by
10 minutes. It was a good workout. It was ominous looking, but when it came it was a deluge of rain, and just a bit of thunder. Now, it is all playing the odds on when I get a soaking rain going home, but with short shorts and sleveless, there is little to get wet, and that is a good thing.

Just missed yesterday afternoon's quick moving T storm, actually, I waited it out in the office but, it didn't make me late. A woman in a Jeep almost sideswiped me as she weaved in and out of traffic in an apparant rage to get to the front of traffic. I had yelled at her to watch out and passed her at 4th and I where I gave her a nasty look (that was probably completely ineffective). The rest of the ride home was nice and I got to chill out at home for a couple of hours since my wife picked up our son. I was, and am still, wiped out today, hopefully I'll recover by this afternoon's ride home.

We are in the "thunderstorm roulette season" in NC. Every day there is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms, some severe. Yesterday I drove as it was pouring rain when I got up and it kept coming down like that off-and-on all day long. Ironically, it hardly rained at my house after the morning showers passed, but it rained almost all day at my office. Today it was warm and cloudy again but no rain showing on the radar, so I'm taking my chances. According to the forecasters, there's a 35% chance of rain by afternoon, which means a 65% chance that it won't rain. I'll take those odds.

My legs were still tired this morning from a fast 56-miler on Memorial Day, and I had a headwind all the way to work, so the going was slow. That and catching 7 of 8 red lights on my route (actually there are 11 lights, but 3 of them are right turns, so I can roll through them). Humidity is way up from all of the rain we have lately -- about 11" in the past 10 days by my rain gauge.

On this morning's ride in I lost. Got about halfway when the storm hit. Thought I might get to work before the sky opened up but no such luck. I ducked under a drive-thru canopy and put on my rain cape which kept the top of me pretty dry. Shoes, however, were soaked. Wind was blowing so hard I was getting "mouthfuls" of water.

The commute home yesterday was pretty warm- mid 90s I think- and I was wondering if just the one water bottle would be adequate for the 17 mile ride. At about mile 4 I had already drunk about half my water. I passed by a guy watering his lawn and yelled out, "It's hot- spray me!" He said, "Really?" I said, "Yeah!" So he hosed me down pretty good as I went by. Nothing like the power of evaporative cooling; I felt almost cold for the next 5 miles.

Nice ride this morning. Quite hazy. Humidity plus the wildfire smoke from Quebec. Low 60sF. Less than a mile into my commute, two women cyclists got in front of me at an intersection so I just followed them all the way. Not too fast. Not too slow. One roadie, one hybrid, and me on my tank. :p

First day back in the office after the holiday weekend. Didn't get to ride over the weekend, but I was camping, so I did a little hiking and some canoeing. Legs felt good and rested this morning, naturally. Had a great commute in - pushed hard for a while knowing I would have the luxury of the shower at work when I got in. Too hot for me, though. 80* at 8:30 AM despite a northerly wind is BULL*****... I want my spring back!
