50F, grey, still, fixed gear. Pineapple express supposed to come in later (40mph winds, downpour).

Yo! I would definitely appreciate a report - that price, btw, is also comparable to the UltraFazer. I had to adjust my route off of Macarthur Blvd heading home, but it was so dark along the Crescent Trail (and some bike lights are blinding, as well) that I will alter my route once again. Didn't see any ninjas, but I guess you only feel them during the collision. Be safe.
Morning commuting has been a joy all week long. Sun in abundance, cool temperatures, no strong winds, still a little color in the trees. Got near the office today and was more upset than usual that I had to stop riding. I wanted to go another 7 miles (or another 25... or more!) :D |
Temp was 60F this morning. Still wearing my bike sandals with no socks. Deliciously cool but very WINDY, and a headwind the whole way.
My GF pulled me across Tampa Bay and, as usual, I had to beg for mercy. 19 MPH was too much into that wind, even with her pulling (at a buck ten she's not much of a draft - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). I'm looking forward to a tailwind all the way home tonight. |

Done it before when I was a newbie, remember now the good ole humility that goes with it. Probably a dumb question but anyone else ever done it? Thankfully the bike had no damage. On the bright side, time for new bad weather pedals! :thumb:
Sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you are ok. This year alone my face has seen more payment than the last 6 years of my life. That's because this year I started to discover the love of cycling and went all out. I have fell from a stand still position several times coming off usually a 15 to 20 mile ride. My legs are scarred. No matter how many time I remember to unclip one leg at stop signs and red lights I forget when I'm bring it home for my final stop. I recently felt the pavement on the account of a reckless motorist who side swipe me 2 1/2 weeks ago. But all is well and I'm back to full training this week. Since being on the bike it has kept me humble and very aware of everyting around me. I have crank brothers-egg beaters. And MO76 SHOES that I train with so I can get use to for cyclocross next year. |
Unfortunately I had to drive today because I had to work out of another office where they don't have a shower and other complicating factors. The weather has been beautiful lately, and I would have pulled a 5-bagger this week if not for having to drive today. Tomorrow I will be back in the saddle, so 4/5 is not bad for the week. The extra daylight has been nice this week, although it's getting dark by the time I reach home.

Sunny, dry, Lovely. :)

Le Tour de Widow Maker, Foster Rd, Portland, Or. Short commute to run a couple errands. But dang, I sometimes feel like a wildebeast crossing croc infested waters. No bike lanes, parked cars, new consruction areas, and people driving like they're in labor or just robbed a bank, well about half of them. Cold & drizzlely too.
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...c4cc/route.jpg It's one of those "should I go the fast direct route" or "zig zag through the slow scenic route?" |
Could not ask for a better day. Weather was beautiful, no wind!! I made great timing. Hope the return is the same

Rode the CX bike today. Had the idea I'd get some grass and barrier workout at lunchtime but it never happened. Seems a shame I'm not using that bike to its fullest potential.
But there's nothing wrong with a mellow spin on a fine autumn day either. |
New Lake winter Shoes are great
The new shoes were warm as toast in the last 2 nights home. The temps were in the mid 30's. Didn't ride today. The wife gave me a treat of a 1 hour massage at her hair dressers shop. I've never had one before. But I will again. I have a phimoris muscle problem that is always tight and the massage relaxed the site alot. :D

30mph wind. ouch...
|
that last 4 kms of my 26km one way trip was highlighted with 6 night ninja's. cops round here seem to ticket no helmets but not no lights/reflectors at night.

Was my 2nd bike commute to new job in downtown Seattle from Bellevue. Last summer I had a job in North Seattle and road North around Lake W. (very long flat safe ride, was very nice, if only Burke Gillman pavement could have been smoother instead it's getting fissured), this winter will be my first winter commuting in Pacific NW across I90 into Seattle.
Morning, good ride, looked really cold but air was very humid and was quite warm, felt like 55. I90 bike path was empty at 9:30, late start today, some rain for last three miles in town, my Gore Tex jacket (sleeveless cause it's warm) laughed at it. Traffic was cake, biggest worry was riding too fast too close behind the cars on the wet roads. Ride home was not terribly fun, dark, rained steadily from the start and gradually rained harder, wind on I90 bike path was pretty strong, car spray was getting kicked up high and was being blown horizontally, had some trouble tilting towards the wind and still keeping the bike upright enough such that my tires wouldn't slip out from under me. From 90 I ride up to the outskirts of Kirkland along Bellevue way, was mixed. Rode nearly in the gutter of the road with a lot of water, traffic wasn't terribly heavy but it was then raining pretty hard (and it had been dark already when I left work). I wanted to take the lane, but wasn't willing to test traffic. One car did pass at speed (35-45) and didn't please me only giving my about 3 feet. Most cars thankfully did either give me the lane or did slow down some and gave me about 4-5 feet. A full goretex jacket, light shirt, non waterproof gloves and winter tights kept me warm enough for the 1hr 40min ride back.. about 30min slower than ride in. |

Good weather all week. Will take it while it lasts.
Bought a good flashlight and strapped it to my handlebars to compliment my front blinkie for the ride home. With the front taken care of, I'm wondering if I should add a second rear light. Feeling better about night riding. |
It was pleasantly sunny and warm today... seeing 60F in November here is a real treat.
Since it was so nice out I worked on prepping my long bike for winter which meant I used it for my commute to the shop as well. |
38 degrees this am. Ride home last night in 10-20mph headwinds sucked the life out of my legs for sure, made today a "recovery" ride level. Fortunately Fridays are usually quieter on DC streets, especially with Monday's holiday, so it was a pretty sedate ride in.

Not bad. Surface was a bit damp, and the sky was overcast. Low 30sF. A tailwind made my ride a bit easier.
|
My legs were tired this morning and it was blustery, but I enjoyed myself.
I listened to some Django which made for a mellow commute. :) |
Today was very nice. In the 50's this morning. Bought a bunch of new cold weather gear but I guess I'll have to wait to use it.
|
i commuted for the first time today. it's 11mi one-way. the weather was a tad chilly (44*) @ 5:45 this morning. took about 45min. man those hills sneak up on me. lol

Nice day, but I felt rather sluggish this morning.
|
Last nights return was disappointing. I had one light burn out, one light break and luckily had a 3rd. Also had a headwind the entire way home. Good news is that it was very nice temp. wise and a bright moon to help me see/be seen.
|
caged. My wife isn't coming home too early tonight and I couldn't face the weather plus biking both kids home (only one of them I have to drag up the last hill but I couldn't get the image of the d-r-a-g out of my head...)
|
Took the long way home. Had Supertramp in my head for a while.
:50: It was a nice ride through fields, woods, bike paths, and residential streets. Needed to engage the blinkies and the headlamp because it was getting dark. Got home right around civil twilight. I think a ninja was trying to catch me on one street. I dropped him hard and then he disappeared like a ninja ought to. |
I had a good ride to and from work yesterday. The temperature in the morning was just right. I'm rolling in a bit later because of the time change so my morning routine in has changed. With the cool weather I don't arrive at work drenched in sweat; so I can shower/shave at home while it's still dark outside and ride with the sun coming up.
I have to get going on the afternoon ride either right at 5 or a little early to get home before sundown. For now it's working out, but soon I expect I'll be using the headlight. That's the way it is here in North Florida. This is a beautiful time of year! |
Today's ride was awesome. While it was a training ride, I did use my Touring-Commuting bike. Great Sun and little traffic. Trying to build my miles after a long layoff I needed the ride as prep for tomorrow's effort. Today 14 miles, tomorrow 25 from home to Salem Lake in WS,NC, around the lake and home again. Should be fun.

Went in to work a little early, as I was watching the storm come in on the radar. Got there in time to miss riding in the rain. Yay!
Left about an hour and a half later than I wanted, as I decided to wait for a clear pocket. Got some sparse, light rain on the way home. My jeans stayed dry and I'm still wearing them, so another lovely autumn ride! |
I had to go to work yesterday (Saturday) for a few hours. I rode in at 11am and left at 4pm. The weather was amazing for November, low 70’s and sunny both ways. It’s been awhile since I’ve done a weekend commute, I forgot how much lighter the motor traffic is compared to the weekday 8 and 5. I have little problem dealing with traffic, but this was really pleasant!

Guess it's the holiday, but didn't see a freaking soul on the ride in today. No other cyclists, joggers, walkers, nothing but rabbits and deer. That's a really odd occurance. Supposed to be a glorious 75 degrees for the ride home, so really looking forward to it. Two of my team have already found excuses to call off today, we'll see how many more before it's time to show up :)
