Was today "National Wheelsucking Day"?? Sheesh, I had like SIX different ones riding my wheel on the way home tonight!! Last one was the only polite one, he pulled up and we chatted the last three or so miles.

Lots of Ninjas though. Guess the DST change caught them unaware.

The ride home was clear and mild at about 49 degrees. Full moon and not a cloud in the sky. A newly extended greenway makes my 9:00pm commute of 8 miles almost traffic free. It's great to be on a bike in the city.

There was a mix of rain and snow this morning, it was interesting.
Today I had to take out the shoe covers, so glad I did.

My wet clothing is drying on my bike in the stairwell which sits near a heater, and for that I am grateful.

According to online tracking, I think I'll get the light today here at my office, so I hope to be able to try it out tonight. I'm going to a wedding this weekend (leaving tonight) so I may not have time to post a quick review of the Terralux until next week when I get back, but will gladly do so then.

Morning commuting has been a joy all week long. Sun in abundance, cool temperatures, no strong winds, still a little color in the trees. Got near the office today and was more upset than usual that I had to stop riding. I wanted to go another 7 miles (or another 25... or more!)

Temp was 60F this morning. Still wearing my bike sandals with no socks. Deliciously cool but very WINDY, and a headwind the whole way.

My GF pulled me across Tampa Bay and, as usual, I had to beg for mercy. 19 MPH was too much into that wind, even with her pulling (at a buck ten she's not much of a draft - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).

I'm looking forward to a tailwind all the way home tonight.

Sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you are ok.

This year alone my face has seen more payment than the last 6 years of my life. That's because this year I started to discover the love of cycling and went all out. I have fell from a stand still position several times coming off usually a 15 to 20 mile ride. My legs are scarred. No matter how many time I remember to unclip one leg at stop signs and red lights I forget when I'm bring it home for my final stop.

I recently felt the pavement on the account of a reckless motorist who side swipe me 2 1/2 weeks ago.
But all is well and I'm back to full training this week.

Since being on the bike it has kept me humble and very aware of everyting around me.

I have crank brothers-egg beaters. And MO76 SHOES that I train with so I can get use to for cyclocross next year.

Unfortunately I had to drive today because I had to work out of another office where they don't have a shower and other complicating factors. The weather has been beautiful lately, and I would have pulled a 5-bagger this week if not for having to drive today. Tomorrow I will be back in the saddle, so 4/5 is not bad for the week. The extra daylight has been nice this week, although it's getting dark by the time I reach home.

Le Tour de Widow Maker, Foster Rd, Portland, Or. Short commute to run a couple errands. But dang, I sometimes feel like a wildebeast crossing croc infested waters. No bike lanes, parked cars, new consruction areas, and people driving like they're in labor or just robbed a bank, well about half of them. Cold & drizzlely too.


It's one of those "should I go the fast direct route" or "zig zag through the slow scenic route?"

Rode the CX bike today. Had the idea I'd get some grass and barrier workout at lunchtime but it never happened. Seems a shame I'm not using that bike to its fullest potential.

But there's nothing wrong with a mellow spin on a fine autumn day either.

The new shoes were warm as toast in the last 2 nights home. The temps were in the mid 30's. Didn't ride today. The wife gave me a treat of a 1 hour massage at her hair dressers shop. I've never had one before. But I will again. I have a phimoris muscle problem that is always tight and the massage relaxed the site alot.

Was my 2nd bike commute to new job in downtown Seattle from Bellevue. Last summer I had a job in North Seattle and road North around Lake W. (very long flat safe ride, was very nice, if only Burke Gillman pavement could have been smoother instead it's getting fissured), this winter will be my first winter commuting in Pacific NW across I90 into Seattle.

Morning, good ride, looked really cold but air was very humid and was quite warm, felt like 55. I90 bike path was empty at 9:30, late start today, some rain for last three miles in town, my Gore Tex jacket (sleeveless cause it's warm) laughed at it. Traffic was cake, biggest worry was riding too fast too close behind the cars on the wet roads.

Ride home was not terribly fun, dark, rained steadily from the start and gradually rained harder, wind on I90 bike path was pretty strong, car spray was getting kicked up high and was being blown horizontally, had some trouble tilting towards the wind and still keeping the bike upright enough such that my tires wouldn't slip out from under me. From 90 I ride up to the outskirts of Kirkland along Bellevue way, was mixed. Rode nearly in the gutter of the road with a lot of water, traffic wasn't terribly heavy but it was then raining pretty hard (and it had been dark already when I left work). I wanted to take the lane, but wasn't willing to test traffic. One car did pass at speed (35-45) and didn't please me only giving my about 3 feet. Most cars thankfully did either give me the lane or did slow down some and gave me about 4-5 feet. A full goretex jacket, light shirt, non waterproof gloves and winter tights kept me warm enough for the 1hr 40min ride back.. about 30min slower than ride in.

It was pleasantly sunny and warm today... seeing 60F in November here is a real treat.

Since it was so nice out I worked on prepping my long bike for winter which meant I used it for my commute to the shop as well.
