82 pictures during 73 minutes - Amsterdam - ENJOY
I was just surfing around and came across this site so I thought I would share it. Some really cool images.
Amsterdam Bicycles (82 pictures of bicycles taken during 73 minutes on 9/12/06 in Amsterdam, Netherlands) http://www.ski-epic.com/amsterdam_bicycles/ Enjoy Cheers |
I had one of those crappy light generator thingys on my Raliegh Record when I was a kid. No thank you. ;)
Some cool pix in there though...:thumb: |
Cool site, thanks for sharing. The US (and I'm guessing Canada too) is the anti-thesis of what is shown on that site. Clearly cycling there is a way of life; there is minimal conflict between car and cyclist because seemingly everyone rides. That is Utopia as far as I'm concerned.

Great pics, thanks for posting the link.

According to the Sierra Club, almost half of all car trips in the US are <3 miles, while more than a quarter of them are less than a mile.

Good find... Thanks.
When it comes to bicycle use, there are so many lessons to be learned from Amsterdam that they're too numerous to count. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, but I sure do envy Amsterdam when it comes to bike culture. |

Well...I think it has a lot to do with the fact that everything is condensed. They don't need to travel 10 miles just to get to a supermarket, school, hardware store, etc.

81 photos proving you don't have to wear a costume to ride a bike. I believe that
the first step to being treated like a regular road user in the USofA is to LOOK like a regular person on a bike instead of a racer who lost his/her peleton. Thanks for the link! |
Did some thread clean up, please stay on topic.

I wish I had taken a picture outside the central train station. There were hundreds of bikes locked up outside. People there use bikes for utility and transportation, not as a piece of sporting equipment.

Thanks for the pic of Centraal Station. That is exactly what I was talking about. It looked very similar in 2009 as it did back then. :)
