Commuting and the Trek 6006
Anyone have any experience with the Trek 6006? It looks great / simple, and is relatively lightweight (22 lbs.) See link:

I am planning on commuting to University in London by bike starting next month, and was wondering if it would be suitable... Or would anyone have any other suggestions in this style / price range?

It seems to me that a bike that nice will be a bit of a theft target. If you're set on using such a fancy bike, you'd better have good locks.
If you can get comfortable with them, road-bike handlebars (on a cheaper bike) will speed you up more than a fancy 22-lb. bike.

You will probably leave it locked up in-between at some point.
Can the frame take mudguards and a rear luggage rack, not much use without them.
The basic concept is sound, the tyre clearance is adaquate and the bike seems light. Dont worry about the drop vs flat bars for a London commuter. I would query the al forks, never quite understood that. Have you ever seen an Aluminium spring?
