Embarrassing crash last night

I sold my car last weekend so I decided that it would be cool to mount the garage door opener on my bike so that I don't have to stop, get off and punch in the number on the key pad. It worked OK on Sunday night but last night I was coming in a little too fast. The garage door wasn't opened up all the way and I knocked myself off of my bike while hitting the bottom of the garage door while it was opening. Glad I was wearing a helmet.

Ha ha. At my last house I rode with my garage door opener for the same purpose. Never clotheslined myself off the bike though.

I nearly did the same thing a few weeks ago, but I ducked and the door gave me a good scrape down my back. My wife was right behind me and quick with the I-told-you-so's.

Thankfully no one saw me do it. The thump was lound enough to make the dog bark and wake up the kids though.

Hopefully a helmet may protect my garage door from cement head some day.
Or I will have to pull out that Readers' Digest book of home repair...again.

And also, this exact same thing happened to me on my mtb. I tried to bunny hop over a log without regards to the low hang branch directly above it. Ended up with my helmet straps choking me and landing my butt and said log.

If you had kipped up right after getting knocked off the bike you wouldn't have lost any cool points.

I'm really glad you're okay, but this brought a smile to my face. I can so see myself doing the same thing.

I picked up a very small garage door opener to use when cycling. It is about the size of a book of matches, and easily fits in my jersey pocket. Quite a bit more convenient than the traditional door opener, which is generally quite enormous.

It won't stop you from creaming yourself on the door though.

next time get video.

i had an embarrassing crash... i didn't realize the scion that was in front of me would, while turning right, enter the intersection and stop right there in the intersection... in my path. it being a downhill, i couldn't really stop and hit the back of the car with my bag because i just couldn't dodge it completely. i stopped but they drove off, so even though i don't think there was any damage, i still feel i was the responsible one.
