Don Quixote
Ok, so it won't have any result, I'm STILL telling every idiot I see riding toward me on the shoulder that he is riding on the wrong side of the road. Here's what I say. "Wrong side of the road. Wrong side!" Maybe if enough people did this, the ignorant would get it. Probably not , but I'M DOIN' IT!
On an unrelated note last night I passed a rodie coming toward me ( On the RIGHT side! Yay!) who was wearing dark spandex and no lights. BUT, he was wearing a helmet. He wanted to be SAFE! In my neck o' the woods it's 98% ninjas.

I am selective. There are some ladies who ride and jog that I can truly appreciate their choice of direction when it is opposite my own.

Here in China stuff coming at you from the opposite direction is usual. Cars, bikes, three wheeled bikes piled with stuff, and people on foot.
Crossing the road requires some addition to the western mantra of look left, look right, look left again.
Here it is look left, right, in front, behind, clear the four diagonals, then start walking. Dont stop, dont change speed, just keep going. Moving vechiles are expected to avoid you, and. by and large, they do.
There are a few exceptions to this. Taxis, buses, and cement trucks have right of way in all situations.
The bike riding rules are labrythine, and take time to learn for a western educated cyclist. I have done 580km in the last 5 weeks, much of it in densly packed city bike lanes. I have not run into anybody so far.
As for those on bikes coming the other way in a bike lane it is a bit like driving a boat. You should signal your intentions clearly, strongly and early. This way you both know what to do. It seems to work very well.
It is a lot of fun commuting in a place that has such a history of bicycle commuting, maybe more that most places in the world.
The sad thing is watching it die.
