you slide it out/in, or twist and slide it out/in, or in some other designs you unscrew a couple of holding screws, then slide it out/in.

These "worth it" questions always confuse me. "Worth it' in terms of what? Isn't that always determined by what you want, not some objective criteria of effectiveness or efficiency or whatever? If you want 'em and you like 'em, then get 'em.

What if you suspect they may be helpful, but you've never tried them so you don't know if they will solve the problem you're hoping they will solve? Is it reasonable to ask for opinions in that case?

Sure, it's just that "worth it" struck me as odd phrasing.

You can set them so you can flick the brake levers with your thumbs. Obviously will not give you a full on emergency stop but good for most situations.

Also don't have them stuck vertically up, why people do this I'll never know, all you do is cut off the blood supply to your hands.

I use an air compressor, 40ish psi. Use the pistol head and insert it a tiny bit under the grip and give it some air. The grip will "float" and slide off with ease.

1. Try peeling them off instead of pulling

2. Squirt liquid soap under them

If that doesn't work, cut them off and get new ones.

That said, I'd never use bar ends on the road except possibly up a hill with no traffic. Not being ready to brake instantly is a sin - I saw an idiot sprinting in traffic standing and forward on his drops almost killed for it once.

Why not just get some moustache bars? I love my Nittos. They let you ride with your hands parallel to the frame, perpendicular, or halfway in between.

Exactly, what I told my ex about a piece of jewelery one time. It also works for bike parts, most of the time.
That is how I wound up with a set of Titec H-bars,that I can't use.
