So there was this beagle...

Haven't been around in a long while. Glad to see the boards are still up-and-running.

I've been commuting to school 20 miles a day (10 miles one way) on my 3 1/2-year-old REI 8-speed since the first week of June, 4 days/week, and riding an hour or two on days off to get endurance up. Did a bit of riding starting mid-May, too, to get in shape for the commute.

Down 25 lbs since mid-May, can now ride the mostly-downhill to leg in about 45 minutes, and about an hour on the mostly-uphill return journey.

Thank you to all who post good information here, and especially to those who understood I'm a just a bike-commuter, not a racer or a mountain-biker.

Again, glad to see folks still around and posting. Will try to get on once a week or so to keep current and pick up advice, tips, and tricks to being a better cyclist on the road, and to making the commute rides more enjoyable for myself.

Once upon a time, there was a standard thread about a commuter who raced someone on light-bike. No biggie, I'm just a commuter, not a racer.

Following shortly thereafter was a wonderfully creative thread regarding a commuter who raced a beagle! I figured folks around back when I joined would remember.

Edit - Thanks for the well-wishes.

I got beagle poop thrown at me by a car tire this morning. It landed on my left shin and I wiped it away with the back of my right hand. Then I wiped it on my left sock. Are most beagles lefties or righties?
