Upgraded kryptonite locks safe? (recalled ones)
My boyfriend FINALLY got his shipment of locks from Kryptonite today. For some reason a bunch of people got lost in the system as what he told me but kyrptonite said they would honor anyone that has registered before thier cut off date that did not recieve thier locks. So now I have these flat key locks with what looks likenew older model locks but with the lock area upgraded. I'm not sure now if the kyrptonite locks can be trusted.
I hvae a kryptonite kryptolok series 2 (sticker says sold secure silver) and a kryptonite evolution series 4 (sticker says sold secure gold). Trustable to use?
Oh yah if you've not gotten your locks yet just call up kryptonite and they will sort that out for you if you have the confirm number.

If it's using a flat key it's the new cylinder that can't be opened with a pen, meaning it's safe from that form of attack.
Any lock can be picked, just happened that they used one that can be picked by a monkey with a pen. They did a full recall, which must of cost them a fortune. I'd say they made good on the mistake. They're good locks, and work as well as any similarly priced U lock against manual tools. I'm guessing very few pick bike locks for theft as it takes skill and time, people in it for money use power tools.
