Found new route to work maybe
Over the weekend, I discovered that UDOT is converting the old Rio Grande RR tracks to bike / walking paths. So, I cruised on one section of it and I think I am able to get off the main highway road I ususally ride on and avoid some potential dangerous route. Normally, I would ride from my house and ride main street all the way north and then turn off and get to work.
Now I can ride a section of the new trail that bypasses some slow areas of my bike ride. I will also be able to ride west without adding too many mile to the trip. When I last did this, it took the mileage from 17.5 to about 25. So, now I olny added I thingk 1 - 2 miles. There is only one troubling section that is on Midland Drive. I have to trave this for it looks like 1/4 - 1/2 mile. This road is narrow and busy during traffic. So, I may have to find something so that I don't have to travel on this street.
If you know the area around midland, let me know of any suggestions you might have to make it easier to travel. Here is the link:

I think it will be far better than the main road. I'll let you know after trying it for a few days.

I rode the route this morning. It was fabulous. Lots of cow and horse pasturess. (sp). Really cool. It has the potential to get really cold in the morning, but it was so nice to ricde and not have cars wizzing by at 50 - 65 mph. The one section that I thought was bad, was't even as bad as the route I have normally taken.
I should have looked at alternate routes sooner. The MUP trail just made it easier to get off the main road. It always pays to look at the route and fine alternatives.
