Ever speed because you can

Normally I'm out way before school starts, but today I had some stuff that caused me to leave late.

Has anyone else cranked it up to 25 in a school zone just because you can

Or if you are a speedster, do you do it in 30 zones?

If I can break the speed limit, I do. I would almost be flattered to get a ticket for speeding on my bike

On a downhill segment with a blind curve, I once went 44 in a 40. Of course that's km/h, but hey it was a blind curve.

No. I take lane and stick to 15mph in zero tolerance school zones.

Lots of 30 kmph (18 mph) zones where I live. I just go my normal speed, even if that's above the limit. Of course, most cars don't slow down in these zones either, so it's not like I'm passing traffic.

+1

I have been known exceed a 35 mph speed limit on some steep descents.

Yes, especially when the little "Your Speed Is" cart is out. It's like a challenge.

(But of course not in a school zone when children are present.)

There's a school zone about a mile south of my office that usually has a motorcycle cop posted in the median with a radar gun. When she's out there, the traffic slows down to under 10 mph even though the limit is 15.

I avoid that route in the morning, but I'm sure I'd be overtaking traffic otherwise.

They just put one of those up on my commute. Its in a 30 though and flat. I've got to 26, but I can't break the barrier. I'll just have to train harder

Very common at 15mph school zones here too. The officer always aims the gun right at me too when I pass by.

The 35mph school zones often have mobile photo radar set up.

Do you stop and ask them how fast they were able to clock you?

I have

I have tried to get pulled over for speeding in every school zone I have seen a police officer. The only acknowledgment I have ever gotten is a thumbs up.

Only when on the phone

The speed cart/trailers are a challenge.... though I ride with a computer, so it's nothing really special. They do read the same speed though.

The speed limit in Central Park is 25. It's not difficult to break it. The sad part is that I am routinely passed by cars when I'm already at (or a little over) 25. Speed limits in NYC are a suggestion.

Ditto. Said ticket would be enlarged to poster size and hung on my wall (I don't even have my degrees hung).

Heck, I might even have a custom shirt made with the ticket as the whole back of the shirt.

School zone speed limits vary by state. I noticed some are 25 mph some are 15 mph. I'm sure there has to be a state with 20 mph.

School zone SL vary here by the type of road they are on.
A 40/45mph posted road (arterial) will have a 35mph school zone
A 25 road (residential) will have a 15mph zone

Texas, checking in. Most in residential area are 20mph.
Some on access/feeder roads to hwys are 35 or 45mph... not sure, can only think of one.

there is one of those signs temporarily on a street near my house. It's killing me that I've only been able to get it up to 14mph. It's uphill, but that's still pathetic

I just blew by a cop this morning going 39 mph in a 30 zone, luckily he didn't even flinch. I was coming off a downhill and was a little suprised at my speed given the headwind.

Schools zones here are 20, but I avoid them like the plague. Even when driving. People here don't really obey them. I get honked at all the time, but they don't have much choice to stay behind me, as I drive a Ram.
