Consecutive days streak

I nust have jinxed myself the other day, when I said that the wheels on my bike were treating me well, because yesterday, I broke a spoke on the rear wheel. It's non-drive side, so buying a spoke (and a couple spares for possible future needs) over the weekend from the LBS and replacing it myself and retruing should be easy enough.

Anyway, the broken spoke forced me not to ride my bike to work this morning for the first time in a long time. Metro for me this AM. I keep track of my miles ridden using a spreadsheet, so I was able to look back and see how many work days it's been since I last missed a day. It had been 28 days, my longest streak of consecutive days so far.

How about you? What's your longest consecutive commuting day streak, if you even keep track?

Every day is a commute-by-bike day unless its a blizzard so bad that I can't stay upright on the bike Since March of this year I've taken transit twice - only one-way each time, so every day since March was a commuting day. Once I had a flat and had forgotten my pump so I took the bike home on transit. Once I had to bring home stuff that I couldn't carry on my bike easily (32x40) so I left the bike at work, rode my folder the next day to leave at work, then came back the next day with the original bike and a trailer to take home the folder. Didn't want to take transit a second time!

Fairly impressive.

My record is 9 days.

I stopped keeping track when I made a solid year. These days I'm more laid back about it.

This last week has been really something though. Due to running the kid in early to make up tests he missed while sick and a few other things, combined with the need to work overtime to keep up at work, I've driven 4 days this week. It's embarrassing. I only drove about 4 times total this YEAR before that.

This driving is killing me. My energy levels are way down and I wouldn't be surprised to catch a cold soon.

As soon as that kid gets caught up (one or two more days to go) I'm back on 2 wheels for at least a month.

Bikes: Too darn many.. latest count is 11

Y'all are better than me. I lay down a lot of miles, but every so often something will come up and I'll drive or Metro in. I think my best streak is only about 2 months. Usual is only about 2-3 weeks or so. Work wouldn't appreciate me schlepping a server from the office to the datacenter on my bike

Consecutively for me meant 5 days a week last summer, and I did it for around 4 months straight, then I had 1 day off (as we were going out in the evening), then another 2 months. I have 2 bikes, about to add a 3rd, so I am never off due to a mechanical issue - well that is my excuse for N+1 anyway!

I don't count consecutive days, I count the number of days driven. It's 3 so far this year. Once in January, once in June, and once last week.

FWIW, I have only one cheap bike, I ride daily, and the last time I had to drive for mechanical reasons was 2 winters ago when I stripped the pedal threads out on my crank. Apart from that, I've never had anything happen to my bike that I couldn't hobble home on and fix that evening.

Until 2 weeks ago, I was probably 9 months straight Monday - Friday. As for my missed day, my wife was out of town, and junior needed a ride to/from preschool so the streak was broken.

There was one day in the early fall that I commuted twice in one day, so maybe I made up for it.

Since around Feb of last year till current. I don't own a car and hate the bus. My commute is only 5 miles round trip.

Just started commuting in September, Mon - Fri. So far I've ridden my bike every day except 2. Not bad for a 300lb. Clyde that's been out of the saddle for 20 years! (IMHO, anyway.)

I really don't count. I knew I took some days off in January and maybe February at the beginning of the year due to extreme cold and/or weather (for me at least). It's funny when coworkers are shocked when I don't ride my bike. Even the kids I work with are shocked when I don't ride my bike. Yet they all know I own 2 cars.

I've been riding every day to work since late June '08. Before that it was intermittent, but usually three times a week. I don't intend to stop at this point. It would just seem wierd, and besides, it takes LESS time to ride than drive on my four mile commute.

I only have to go into work two to three times a week. I've ridden every day so far this semester but I took the bus part of the way two times because I was running behind. I still count those days though ...

On the spoke thing, you can ride with one broken spoke - it is not a big deal - you can usually get the wheel close to true. You didn't need to take a day off. I always carry a spoke wrench just in case so, I can true it enough so it isn't hitting the brake.

You guys have a lot more stamina than me. I typically ride 6,000-7,000+ miles a year, but I have to take a few days off every week or I get burned out. I need some recovery time, so I usually get that when it rains or the weather turns nasty. If I ride too many days in a row, my legs start getting very sore, my energy levels go down, and my speed decreases.

I ride 5 days a week, but only 5000 miles a year at most (100 miles a week).

I had to take days off at first, but not anymore. I DROVE 4 days this week for the first time in several years, and I have NO energy right now. I gotta get back on the bike before I melt into a puddle of lard.

I made six straight months in January through June of 2008, but then things got in the way.

Bikes: everywhere

I've commuted every workday for about a year and a half with the exception of about 20 days where I skateboarded or walked in on the morning after running around with someone in their car after work the previous evening.

I could only guess at longest pure streak of bike commutes, but I'd say about 9 months back in the early 90s.
