From: 25 miles northwest of Boston

Bikes: Bottecchia Sprint, GT Timberline 29r, Marin Muirwoods 29er, Trek FX Alpha 7.0

I used to do 17 miles each way but only in good weather and only during spring and summer and I only did two full 5 day work weeks.

You can probably handle a couple of days per week.

Start with one or two days a week if you can. See how it feels.

I had to endure a 36 mile round trip commute for 18 months due to my home being rebuilt after Hurricane Katrina. 10 miles on a bike path and 8 through the city. Just for a point of reference, I could often average 18mph breaking all the traffic laws. One hour each way. Of course, cycling is my #1 hobby and I don't own a car so I didn't mind the time so much. Stopping for lights and stop signs would add 15 minutes each way I guess. I was stuck doing that 5 to 6 days a week. So I bet you could make it happen on the most beautiful days at least.

Keep us posted.

+1 for the last part.
