Cold Commute

I ride year round, except when there is ice or packed snow on the ground. It was really tempting to drive today though. BRRRRR.

Those first few days below freezing really test your resolve.

My face started tightening up and I felt that distinctive "brain freeze" coming on my way home to day. I love it! And with my new studded tires I find myself looking for iced-over puddles to traverse!

Busted out the thin balaclava today. As well, I have newly mounted 26inch 'cross tires (1.3in), that I've been playing with this week, I'm anxious to see some snow to test them further. So far they're just about as fast as the high pressure slicks I ride on my MTB in the city, and great in water soaked grass and sand.
