Ergon grips with bar ends-worth it?
And do they play nice with bar mounted mirrors, like the Mt. Mirracycle?

I used Ergon Grips and some CF bar ends. they worked out really great till I crashed and hit the bar ends, so now I don't trust them. I just got the cheapo (compared to the ones with barends built in) grips and then added CF grips.
you can mount a mirror or whatever too, as long as you keep moving stuff in and have a long enough bar to accommodate that
edit: and CAP THOSE BARS! I have a nice scar as a reminder to do that now.

The Cane Creek grips and ends are the best. Pricey and they don't play well, (read: "at all"), with bar end mirrors but mirrors are better on the helmet anyway, don't you think? Bar end mirrors show you the blind spot but it's too late by the time something's in that zone. Helmet mirrors ride higher and show you more of the road behind you. I like to see that 18-wheeler asap!

I really like my Ergon grips, which make my hands seldom go numb when compared to other grips/glove I've tried. Since my commute is mostly urban, and without any really steep hills, bar end grips are mostly a waste of time and dangerous since I really need to be able brake on a millisecond's notice when playing with urban traffic. I have used bar end grips in more rural settings, but I had a hard time adjusting since I felt more comfortable with my hands close to the brake levers, thanks to my daily urban riding.

I use the Ergon GC2 grips and they are a very good product. In retrospect I would have purchased the GC3 or GX3 for the longer bar ends. I don't have exceptionally large hands but I find the GC2s to be just a little smaller than I'd like. I use a bar-end mirror and there is some interference when using the bar ends. At first I tried riding with the mirror shaft in between 2 of my fingers but that was not comfortable. Now I place my hand ahead of the mirror - effectively losing some of the area where my hand would normally rest. This is another argument for longer bar ends as the mirror would likely become a non-issue. Other than that I have nothing but praise for the grips. Even with the mirror I get more hand positions and the numbness that I used to experience has been greatly reduced.

Of course these are the GC2s and according to CCrew they will not work with other models. If you visit the Ergon website you can get a 360 degree view of all of their different grips.

I have the Ergon GC2's on my bike. I like them better than the ODI Rogue grips with CaneCreek II bar ends. But different strokes for different folks. Only rarely do I wish I had longer bar ends for the Ergon's.

I've got Ergons with the bar ends and don't care for the look of them. For my Breezer, the regular Ergons would have been fine. That said, when I'm going up hill, I use the bar ends. The bike feels more lively when I do.
Love these grips as they really reduce the hand discomfort.

They don't come with bar ends but they would look sharp with a pair in black, brushed aluminum, or wrapped in matching leather.
