I think this B Cycle system is really cool. Has anyone used it?

Not an entirely new thought.

Thieves, vandals, and morons will ruin it. We are moving closer and closer to what is portrayed in "Idiocracy" by the day. Yes, I have that much faith in the human race.

Happy Holidays.

ive seen this in europe.... i loved the Barcelona Bicing...sexy bikes with all the features...it was working pretty good, but they had some trouble...Barcelona City is a slope..so peple ride downhill and then park the bike...so the bike company had to gather bikes from the bottom of hill to get them uphill so people could ride...

I was told this bikes use special parts that dont fit on regular bikes...guess they alter they way you mount and dismount the parts to make it difficult to steel..

Paris is also doing this....but they have some social issues, as many people take the bikes as symbols of classism and destroy the bikes!

This is such an excellent idea. I have read somewhere of places that have done this. Maybe they are still doing it but there are a lot of troublesome issues associated with this. Such as people not caring too much about the bike since they don't own it so they must hire a fleet of bike mechanics to constantly go around town retrieving and fixing bikes.

Of course the ever present vandalism that some people feel the need to cause for whatever reason. All this adds up and makes the cost of renting these less and less appealing. Ever see all the graffiti at bus stops? It's not totally uncommon to see broken glass at bus stops as well. Somebody has to pay for that stuff and its going to be us

I can see the same sort of thing happening with B-Cycle.
