"...I was going to flip him off back but..."

On my commute there's about 8 blocks that I travel down main street. On a summer evening it is not uncommon for a couple dozen guys to lean out of their windows and yell something. Most of the time I just do the smile + wave thing. They're just trying to have fun because they're pathetic and fail at life, so it's not my place to react violently or judge them.
However, when a driver threatens my well being with their poor driving skills I proceed to yell at them. Nothing violent or threatening, I simply tell them what they're doing wrong. Sometimes they yell insults at me to which I respond with a wave of the hand and a smile. However, sometimes they yell an apology. This always makes me feel good, knowing that not all bad drivers blame their bad driving on the things around them.
I know I really shouldn't be riding down one of the busiest roads in town during a high traffic time, but the road is just as much mine as it is theirs. I ride very defensively and make sure to keep out of their way as much as possible. Using these methods I've never been in an accident(knock on wood), and I can only hope that I've alerted at least a few people that they need to improve their driving skills.

Lst summer: Last intersection before work road widens to 4 lanes for turning & goes back to 2 just past the other side of the road. I'm i the right lane & a car in the left lane. Everyone likes to pull into the right lane & race to beat the guy in the left lane. Guy squeezes between me & the other car turns to me with usual get the f out of the road line. has his sunroof open. Now i'm 6'5" about 215, so I lean over & peer down at him & ask him"what'd you say"
No reply but once the light goes green he speeds off flippin me the bird.

I hardly get the flippin bird thing unless I give it to them first. Driver just assume that I don't know any better than to be where they thinK I should not be. Yes they do tend to be nicer to women over men. When I have all my hair tuck in behind under my helmet, wearing extra layer clothing, and they are behind me is when I do get comments about how to ride my bike on the road. They assume I was a guy from initial contact. Usually I smile and they just grin and backoff. If I do birdie them, they will birdie me back with the good old tune of "F you B**ch. Road rage or bike rage???? Doesn't matter but gotta love it. LOL
