twice in 24 hours?

this is insane. I commute of course. 2 intersections at 2 different shopping areas one in the afternoon yesterday and one this morning.

Yesterday afternoon a driver pulls out of parking area jets across 4 lanes of confusing traffic into my lane where I am riding. Ack! These guys are out to kill me. I hate these idjiot inattentive drivers. Yesterday I stopped in front of the first one in a wide spot on road and screamed at him. he finally said, "sorry my bad..." and after a few 'words' we went our ways. I caught up with the hot rodder a mile up the way at a construction zone. he was uncomfortable waiting with me riding up his lane...

The one this morning completely oblivious. Radio blaring... I finally got his attention. I thought as he started into the intersection I had caught his eye with all my lights (how can they miss me? I'm a frakking circus of lights) as I rode on down the road after he passed I smelled cigarette smoke. He obviously lit up after he got shook up by almost running me down.

WAKE UP out there!

I almost got it twice yesterday, myself, however the inattention was on my part.
I needed to make a left turn, checked, signaled, started to go, caught a flash of movement in my mirror, aborted, watched a beige mini van go by.
I honestly have no idea where it came from. I missed my turn. I wound up deciding to walk across the road. I stopped,, got off the bike looked left, looked right, looked left again, started to go, got across the first travel lane on my side. As I was crossing the second travel lane on my side, I heard a horn, looked, lo and behold, another beige car, swerving around me. Again I have no idea where it came from. Like I said, the inattention was on my part. Either that or I am semi color blind and can't see beige.

Sometimes I wonder if it isn't that they don't see you, instead it just registers in their mind that a bike isn't a threat to them. If they clobber the bike it really won't hurt them the same as if they run into another car.

Just a random thought.

Drivers not seeing bicyclists reminds me of this selective awareness test.

Count how many passes the team in white makes
