LAST BIG DECISION TO MAKE

OK, in the back of my mind is lurking the thought that I might want to replace the stock Nashbar aluminum fork with a good carbon fork. Reasons: better ride (less vibration) and the capability of putting a disk brake on the front.

Money is not a big issue here because I don't have a car and this is my transportation. Also lurking in the back of my mind is the thought that once I get the Nash frame all kitted out just the way I want it, I might just buy a titanium touring frame and transfer all the components (including the carbon fork). This would be my version of the "ultimate" bike--I may never do it, but I want to leave my options open.

The Nash OEM fork has a pretty good bend in it (rake, trail, whatever it's called), which I believe is supposed to ease the vibration to the handlebars somewhat.

The BIG question is how much less vibration would I experience at the handlebars with a carbon fork vs with a comparably raked aluminum fork????

26" wheels on the Nash?

I just purchased a used set of wheels for use on another bike--but the rims may be too narrow for their intended application.

What would you all think of the idea of running them on the Nash??

OK, so this frame is designed for use with a 700 wheel-- but what would be the symptoms of using a 26 instead? tighter turning radius, twitchier, tracks worse, what else? Anything noticeable?

I assume disc brakes? You may have trouble aligning canti brake pads, I'm guessing the 26" rims will be 3/4" lower than 700c rims.
