Who has the longest commute?

This is simple, if your round trip commute is longer than the one above, post it. Last post wins. Curious what the longest one is. I shall start...

8 miles round trip.

42 miles RT also with a gulch to race down and climb up. More uphill going home.

(not for consideration in this thread - but longest RT commute was in DC area 56 miles)

It's under Show > Elevation profile for any route plotted in Bikely.com

I think this belongs in a forum with egos.
I thought this forum was just people riding bikes together, and not competing with each other.

Actually, this forum is fore people who mostly ride their bikes alone. In the dark. And the rain. Into a headwind. Uphill. Both ways.

It is not about ego's. It would be interesting to know what the longest commute is in this forum. I know there are some here that have longer round trip commutes than I currently have.

If I had my choice, My commute would be 30 miles RT flat or 24 miles RT with a couple of good hills. But I am not going to sell my house, so unless a better job comes along closer to home, I have the current longer commute.

+1 on my commutes are solo rides as well.

Well, I have a bi-weekly 27mi. RT commute that is pretty much both ways. My weekly commute is 66mi. RT. That one does have some big hills.

Yes, in the snow that rests on the (not fully) frozen sea. But clipless makes it too difficult to kick attacking wolves and bears. And reindeers, hordes of reindeers. The closet carnivores, hate them.

Well, any regular reader would know that there are people who ride 30+ miles round trip daily, and there are a few people who ride on the order of 50 mile roundtrips but not daily.

You didn't realize that any time two riders are travelling the same direction on a road or path, it's a race?

I thought that was the long distance forum.

Bikes: Trek 830 Mountain Track Drop bar conversion

My commute is 200 miles one way up a 20% average grade. It's uphill both ways. On a good day, I can do the ride in about 20 minutes. Up to 30 on winter studs into a headwind...

My commute is shorter than some of the othes posted here (36 miles RT). But it IS uphill in both directions! Here is my round-trip profile (elevation variances are due to the crappy elevation performance of the Edge 705 - either that or my route is sinking...):

commute.JPG

My office is in the center, at mile 18. It's a good workout.

I only ride the bike to work 1 - 2 times a week ... but it's 71 miles roundtrip when I get to do it. It's pretty flat throughout though.

I find these threads a bit inspiring. My distance was topped in the 4th post, so I'm out.

* Edit - make that 3rd post... assuming the miles-kilometers conversion hasn't changed recently.

So what I'm hearing is, length matters.

Mine used to be somewhat long, 30 miles RT with a 2mi. long steep hill at the very end of the commute in to work, that I had to climb every morning (legs got kind of gummy by the time Friday rolled around), but on the upside, was treated with a descent down that hill at the end of each day. Nothing clears the head like doing 50mph on two skinny tires within 90 seconds of leaving the office.

Now I'm less than 10 miles RT which from a time constraint perspective is great, but I'm not nearly as fit as I was during the longer commute.

Umm, when you say roundtrip, that means for examples, 30miles each way? I'll keep it simple, in the summer it's 49km's each way (I'm canadian), almost 100km's. I did that 4 times a week, with wednesday as a rest day.

This year I'll be doing the same thing, except wednesday will be my group ride days with a few buddies pulling 40km in the gats (gats = gatineau hills) : https://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...mplain-Lookout

Ok I'm getting off topic here
