Time for new tires
I am thinking Schwalbe but not sure which ones.
I want:
1.reflective striping
2.good for long tours on my fuji SS which I use for both commuting and touring
3. puncture resistant
4. handle grit/sand on the side of the road (here in Maine the sides of the road get nasty)
I want low rolling resistance but also can handle the nastiness Maine can dish out.
I have 700cc tires and want to go as wide as possible............
Any help is appreciated

i've been riding 700x40c vittoria randonneur tires for the past year that have worked out awesome. i've toured on them and commute regularly in the gutters and in 1000 miles haven't had a single flat. that's better performance than i get from my gatorskins. reflective sidewall too.

You have some choices.
Panaracer had a new tire that's very tough but with low rolling resistance called Ribmo.
It's cheaper than a Schwalbe would be. My bike shop is very enthusiastic about them.
I just became a Vittoria convert, but I haven't even got it on the bike yet.
I used the Schwalbe marathon Racers one year. It has the lowest rolling resistance of
the Marathons, so while it's tough, it's not as tough as the other Marathons.
Performance and durability/puncture resistance are qualities where if you gain in one area, you tend to lose in the other.
You can throw more money at the problem and get something like the Marathon Supreme.

ahhh more money
Thanks for the other brand suggestions.
Not sure I have enough fender clearance for 40cm tires.
Was looking at the marathon supreme HS 382 and the Marathon XR HS 359?
Thought for the trek across maine I would use the former and then when back to commuting use the latter..........
how do people find the reflective strip-does it seem to work or get covered by grime?
Thanks as always,

those two tires
did check out the vittoria randonneur and the panaracer ribmo both are less expensive alternatives.
folding vs. bead-my preference is for folding but not sure why........
