What type of vitamin supplements do you take?

I take a calcium supplement, and a B-Multi vitamin supplement... I was wondering what everyone else takes, and if there are certain ones are good for people that bike several miles a week?

I take Men's 1 a day multi-vitamin and a fish oil supplement 3 times a day. I personally think fish oil is the best supplement to take in general.

Sometimes I manage to kepe myself in the habit of taking a one-a-day. Thanks for reminding me I haven't been taking it.

I don't do it b/c I bike, though. Just do it (or don't do it) because...

It's really surprisingly hard to not get enough vitamins and minerals, the FDA has actually done a good job with their fortification regimens. The one time I would really recommend someone take supplements is if they have a very small body weight, and low activity level. These tiny, lazy people just don't eat enough to always get their required nutrients from food.

That being said, there is definitely a lot of evidence that consumption of omega-3 oils in quantities far exceeding normal dietary intake actually improve health in some pretty remarkable ways. It's not a 'paleo-diet' thing, it's more of a 'hacking your body' sort of thing.

Fish oil and a multivitamin. I've also been experimenting with beta alanine before interval session. Inconclusive so far.

Bikes: Lots

Go to a pharmacy ask a specialist, there are a lots of different vitamins for different people, active life styles, and dietary behavior, just ask them.

I get mine from Whole Foods.
Super Nutrition Simply One Men
they are food based, cheap, I truly started feeling better after starting these, but it could be a placebo effect, I don't care if it is, it works
Sometimes brake them in have, and I just take half in the morning and half at night, allowing the body to brake it down better.

Things to do:
Ask for help
Tell them what you are looking for
dietary/life style
form: tablet, pill, capsule, powder, chewable
Food based/Chemical based.
so on...

Also instead of Fish oil, just though some ground flax seed, in your cereal or baked goods, or smoothies, anything,

Also you could start just start eating foods that contain the vitamins you want.
don't take to many different ones at one time, try to get a multivitamin that contains everything you want,

doesn't fish oil give you fishy burps? I took it for 3 months or so and saw no benefits. What is it supposed to do?

I try to get all my nutrients from fresh organic fruits and veggies first. Supplements are easy but often lacks the control in quality that I like. Fish oil is an example where high levels of mercury may offset the benefits. There is a prescription form, more concentrated and FDA approved, but of course, more expensive too.

+1 for Vitamin D. I also take an omega 3 and an anti-inflamatory supplement called Zyflamend. Good stuff.
