First commute yesterday
Well I finally did my first commute yesterday 21 miles each way.
The ride in was nice and cool,I started at 5:00 am and got there at about 6:40 a nice easy ride.
Worked 10 1/2 hours,I got off an hour and a half early, left at about 5:40 and got home around 7:20.
The ride home was much tougher than the ride in I think mostly against the wind.
I won't be doing this everyday but I will start doing it at least once a week,I work 3 12 hour days at an office supply warehouse as a stock picker it's fast paced labor wich is why I won't be doing it everyday.
One question to ask.
Maybe because it was a saturday evening but on the way home I seemed to get hurassed alot by punk kids driving there way to expensive pick up trucks.
I live in a rural area and for the most part get plenty of respect when I ride but last night alot of people just had to stomp on the gas and pass as fast as they can while there buddy in the passenger seat would jump up and down saying how cool it is to pass the dork on the bicycle,at least I imagine thats what there saying.
I took it all in stride and didn't let it bother me much but it is annoying.
Anyhow I'm just happy to be an actual bike commuter now,at least a part time commuter.
I've been wanting to do this for quite some time now and happy to be finally doing it.

Way to go, 21 miles each way is pretty ambitious. My commute is 12 miles and I feel that is about the limit for me. It's normally about 45 minutes either way depending on the wind. I work graveyards in a warehouse also.
I don't have to work Saturday nights, but I would agree that the monkey business does go up during the weekends. I have encountered some of that on Friday evening rides.
