Best flat resistent, puncture proof commuter tire

Gouge Away
Have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised by the Michelin City. For the price I paid for a set of 35s I was pretty skeptical about how they would perform. Also as many have said you can't go wrong with a set of Schwalbes.

If anything, the Michelins don't "pinch shoot" rocks like my high pressure Bontragers did. My biggest fear was nailing a ped on the sidewalk with a stone missile, especially after nailing someone's shiny new red pickup from across the street, a couple of years ago.

I was actually shopping for those a couple of months ago with no luck finding a matching pair. I settled on Continental Contacts, which were a bit more, but seem to do what they're supposed to. Mid-range pricing compared to the Schwalbe's. Anyway, 400 miles without incident. Daily doses of glass, truck tires, rocks, pine cones, squirrel carcasses, etc., no problem.

I have been using pasela tourguards, have not had a flat that I have had to change on the side of the road. I have had 2 slow leaks due to those tiny wires. About 800 miles of commuting on them now. I would buy them again for sure.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
The basic Marathon is my favourite tyre and suits the riding conditions here very well... it is impervious to most things, well made, and has an incredible working life which offsets the price.
With that being said... industrial staples and nails will take out any tyre.

i've not used any schwalbe tires, but with that said my favorite tire for flat-out puncture resistance is the vittoria randonneur double shield. apparently vittoria makes like 6 or 7 different flavors of the randonneur, including a triple-shield, hyper, e-rando, cross, pro, cross-pro, regular randonneur, trail, touring and comfort. i don't understand really what the differences are, but the double shield worked awesome for me for commuting and touring for over a year and somewhere on the order of 2,000 miles before i changed to a panaracer pasela TG out of boredom. never had a problem with glass, debris, 300 miles touring in goathead country, etc. still have tons of life left in the randonneurs which are now on my backup wheelset.
fwiw was using the 700x40c which were large for their size and weighed 780g each

I'm using the Marathon supremes in 700 x 40, only 495 grams, but very pricey. They roll very smooth, one flat from a a curved piece of valve spring in a bout 2,000 km. Also Big Apples in 26 x 2 , no flats in about 4,000 km. One of the Big Apples is starting to look worn.
