I commute around 28 miles round trip and I ride on a beloved Ideale 303 saddle. It is now 20 years since I have been using it and it has watched my weight increase over the years and never complained for a moment, it has reached the end of its for and aft adjustment and its sag in the middle is pronounced and not altogether comfortable. Now it is beginning to lean over to one side. So, I must accept what I have been unwilling to and get a new saddle. I am looking at a Brooks B135 as it will offer similar features to the Ideale and all reviews are very positive, but one thing I have not been able to figure out.

My commute bike is a Moulton TSR and it has a seat post with beams. The Ideale has rails that are like i-beams, I use a longer bolt on the clamp and it works fine. I used the same setup on my Campagnolo Mondia which is older even than the saddle. The B135 has TWO wire rails per side that appear to be separated by half an inch or so. The pictures seem to indicate that there is a bracket the clamps across the rails each side with a tube clamp in the middle, but I cannot use a tube clamp without replacing the seat post and I do not know if Moulton makes such a post. Can I use my rail clamp with this saddle does anyone know? Can I clamp across the top and bottom rail on each side? Or would I need some sort of spacer so I do not squish the rails. Or can I clamp, with the regular bolt, to just one set of rails, the two top rails or the two bottom rails?

Brooks supplies a clamp for the multi rail saddles which go on most traditional seatposts. There's an adaptor called a seat sandwich for modern micro adjust seatposts.

I am going to give the B135 a try on my Kona Humu cruiser along with more upright position handlebars than it currently has. I found a U.S. dealer who lists it for close to the British price including shipment from Britain.

Per what I have read the seat sandwich can even be modified to work with some dual bolt seatposts if you have access to a drill press or files. There used to be a version available with a much larger central hole that worked w/o modification.
