you'd think cyclists in this area would carry bear spray, wear bear bells, and carry something else maybe a loud noise maker of some kind to defend themselves with like a firearm with blanks?

Or a firearm with actual ammunition. Bears aren't the only wild animal that attacks people out there.

well then yes, I agree. I would hesitate as much as possible to shoot a mother bear if it could be deterred another way. but wolves? let them eat the shot wolf instead of me or my pet.

of course running with your pets in wolf country doesn't sound too smart ... aren't there any other areas to run? areas without wolf warnings?
