N+3
This last weekend I went to N+3.
None of them were really special. Actually I bought them for some of the parts that were on them:
One of them (the Huffy) has the vintage rubber, 4 piece, 10 speed style grips. The ones that look like little perforated tubes. They don't make them any more.
The Silver bike, I bought because I liked the frame and it fit me. Probably will be my next Xtracycle donor bike. As a bonus, it turns out that it also has a Biopace crankset. If the fork had disc tabs on it, I probably would build it as a new Xtracycle now.
The third bike is a Mercier (French bike, looks like road or racing geometry to me), I bought it because it had a working bottle dynamo on it, which is now mounted on my X as a back-up light, if I have issues with my Magicshine.
Total invested: 25.00
I paid ten dollars apiece for the first two at the Lion Club annual yard sale. I am wondering a little bit if the silver bike is hot because the whole thing was spay bombed; chain, pedals, tires, ect. If I can find any info on it I will check to see if it is stolen with the local P.D. I would hate to think that I bought a hot bike, however, I bought it in good faith. It wasn't until after I got home, that I seriously gave the paint job any thought.
The Mercier I bought from one of my neighbors for five dollars.
If we had a bike kitchen around here I would donate a bunch of parts to it.
