B&M 4D Toplight

I complement it with blinking PBSFs clipped to the rack trunk, panniers, or seat pack.

If this is the one with the "gradual" flash mode, I like this one.

I like my Nightrider Cherry Bomb.

and? Ya know, some of us have managed to survive just fine riding in traffic for many years before blinking lights became all the rage....and I guess you missed the part where I mentioned augmenting it with PBSFs?

So... what I can conclude here is that if my accessory budget is high - get the Dinotte 400R, if it's moderate - the Radbot 1000, and if it's modest - the PBSF. Is that about right? Since all three will help you get noticed then budget should determine the purchase. No one wants to be "less safe" than the next rider but let's face it; not all of us can afford to spend $200 - $300 on a taillight.

For lights in the US, it's also unusual.
I didn't say it was a bad thing. (But it's strange they don't include a flashing mode.)

Yes (I know). That's one reason many lights have a non-flashing mode.

Several of mine sure have. Even with electrical tape wrapped around the seam, moisture gets into the microswitch and not only keeps the light from turning off, but occasionally turns the light on as well. I noted this once on tour when its flashing woke me in the middle of the night. THEN it wouldn't turn off till I took the batteries out.
It was dark when I fell asleep, so I'd have noticed if I'd left it on. Also, nobody around who would have turned it on as a prank.

IMHO, the Radbot 1000 cancels out the PBSF since they are pretty much both the same retail price. Even thought the PBSF can be found on sale quite easily, it's only an extra 10-15 bucks to get you a noticeably brighter light with better build quality and it comes with 3 different mounting brackets included so nothing extra to buy or cobble together.

There's a rear light on Deals Extreme that is less than $4 shipped. Someone wrote a good review on it. It's not as bright at the PB Superflash, but there's a wider angle it lights up, making it more visible from the side. The battery life is just as good as a SF. For $4 it's hard to beat and I bought two.
You would have to make something to get it to mount on a rack though. It just comes with a mount meant for seatposts.
