I have the (discontinued) Dry Big Dog. It's an embarrassment at work - here's this sleek, super-human looking pannier/messenger saddlebag, bold red, amphibian black, silver accents, and look! A naked man with an umbrella when I try to get something out of it. I have to hide it under my desk.

Also, no external pockets for lights and keys and sundry.

Gonna be my last Knogg product... which is sad, as it's huge and mounts on the bike like a champ, but not too sad, as they don't make it anymore.

You can snap a shoulder strap on this thing to carry over the shoulder, or carry it like a goofy briefcase. Not too stylish, but it works well for me. Laptop fits perfectly. And almost waterproof (spray waterproofer on the seams).

While looking for something, stylish, functional and more mature for my daily commute I scoured San Francisco and stumbled upon Lulemon. The store sells Yoga gear and I found the perfect black bag that looks like a professional tote, but holds everything I need for a day. Lunch, breakfast, clothes to change into for practice, laptop, and everything else I carry on a daily basis. Which is a lot. It has handles and a shoulder strap.

In response to the question above, I don't have a blog. This is the first time I am taking to the internet to discuss my urban bike commuting habits. I never had anything to contribute before but I think those Lanes might be a solution for others. Loads of people here in Chicago ride like that. Next up, I need to find some soft cages that won't scratch my stilettos. Yes, I cycle in stilettos sometimes. Cages help a lot but they mar my gorgeous shoes.

Those Knogs are fab. Again, I just like leather. That's all. Its really the most appropriate choice. I can't underestimate how stuffy some of my workplaces are. The Louis Garneau is a gorgeous pannier but it looks like a (gorgeous) pannier.

Go with leather straps instead of cages, and if you use cages, Velo-Orange has leather-covered full and half length MKS toe-clips, designed to protect your shoes.

I LOVE that I am getting help with this instead of being made fun of. Those are amazing. Many thanks. My shoes also thank you.

Here's a smallish (9"x11") pannier/shoulderbag made of very thick leather'n'canvas that I developed based on vintage Swiss military surplus cases and sell for about $50: https://outyourbackdoor.com/article.php?id=443. (The leather patch darkens in the sun.)
