I had to drive in to work yesterday...
And it really ruined the tempo of my day. I have been car free since June, and my girlfriend happened to be down for the weekend, and my road bike was in the shop, so I had no choice but to take her car.
I have always enjoyed biking, but I never realized until yesterday how much I truly enjoy it until I had to actually drive home. Its only a 20 minute ride roughly, but it's thereputic to me, and the most relaxing way to end my day. People take cars for granted. I think I actually took NOT having a car for granted the last three months.

Last week I had to do a presentation and for that I have to wear a suit. I chose to drive instead of ride and coming home sitting in traffic I really wished I was on my bike.

That's why many here invest in a second "back-up" bike. Keeping a car as your back-up is kind of expensive too...

I had to drive to work most days over the past few weeks. Nothing but a daily go go go grind. I'm now totally sick.
When I ride, I never get whalloped like this, except when something really nasty is going around, and then I tend to get it more mildly than others. As happened with H1N1 last year.

I do have two bikes. The road bike I mentioned was in the shop. My primary commuter popped a spoke, which in turn caused me to have to borrow my gf's car.

I might have to drive in once every couple of months, when I do the guys dont seem to do anything right at work. I have to do a lot of yelleing to get everyone back in line.
Wierd how its the only days I drive, the rest of the time they're really good at thier jobs

I've only been commuting by bike for about a month or so, but I do have to get the train/car to work about 50% of the time, I go to customer site a lot and aside from the fact the distance is often 70 miles plus there would be no where to get washed up once I arrived. When I don't cycle it's just not the same, even after only a few weeks. There is nothing like being sat at my desk having head the blood pumping and knowing that I have got some good exercise in already
And also nothing like being sat at a desk knowing that I would feel great if I had been on the bike.
