Is This Lock Mounting Bracket Any Good?

This came with my U-lock. https://www.amazon.com/OnGuard-5053-U.../dp/B000GOTGIM Should I use it? What do you use to carry or mount your U-lock? I'm using a mini U-lock.

I do not like that bracket. It has that cam ratchet with a strap that you got to get it right the first time otherwise it can be a problem to loosen it. I still has it on my FS MTB only because I seldom carry a Ulock on that bike anymore and I don't want to damage it if I try to remove it.

My other MTB has a mini and I use a standard holder but I also use a bungee cord holding the lock to the top tube.

What kind of holder is that? Today I had it mounted on the seat tube with the U-lock's cylinder facing up. The cylinder kept bobbing (rattling). It was very annoying.

It came with a new lock I bought and it's impossible to even put it on the lock. It seems there are no good lock mounting brackets, whatever brands.

Maybe it could fit in a seat bag? It’s about 6” wide by 8” long and 2” thick. Actual measurements are less than that. I don’t have a seat bag yet. I’m thinking that would be too big. I would just want to put a tube, tire levers, a tool, batteries, lights, and computer in it. Wrap it around my belt loop? I haven’t tried that. Maybe that’s too ghetto or make me feel lopsided or too heavy for the loop? I had it on my frame but it scratches it.

If you use a rear luggage rack, the top plate is ideal for stowing a U lock. Fix a bunji chord over the top and slip the lock underneath.

Today I kept the lock on the mounting bracket while it was on the bus rack. The bus bounces a lot. The lock stayed on the mount. I'll just stick it in my book bag that I usually carry because I hate the rattling. When I tour without my book bag which isn't common then my belt loop. I think I just want a small seat bag. I'm planning on throwing the seat bag in my book bag when I lock and leave my bike anyway. I think it would just be useful when I don't have my book bag and it separates my bike stuff from the rest.

I don't have a rack maybe in the future when the need rises.
