Can you see broken glass with your lights?

Just wondering if your headlight(s) are strong enough to see broken glass on the road.

I can see it sometimes with my light, but often too late to avoid it. To be honest even during bright sunlight I sometimes miss broken glass until I am almost on top of it.

I realize this question might be hard to answer, because you don't necessarily know what you don't see.

With glass you do. The evidence is your flat tire

I see broken glass pretty well on my commute....it's like a patch of glitter in the road. I think I've mistaken actual glitter for glass a few times though and made some unnecessary maneuvers.

Bikes: Yes

The streets around here glitter along most of my route, usually because they're wet, but if not there's plenty of glass to keep them shining. The thing is, I don't worry about the glass that glitters. Those are usually small pieces.

Yes it's strong enough. First headlight was not, it was an old 200w dual light setup.

Depends on how fast i'm going, but usually there are street lights where I live to show me what's on the ground.

I see almost everything with my headlights.

Beside broken glass:
I see pedestrian pissed at me for glaring them,
Cats eyes in the middle of the road from a distant,
Dog poop (yeck!)
and even Cager opening their car door attempting to teach me a lesson.

That what happen when you run 3 x 800 lumen MG throwers and one MS light with the MS pointed down and flooding the close range while the throwers light up 100+ feet away.

Sometimes, but not always. My light came loose on my commuter bike, and when I tighten it down, it comes loose again after a few days. Sometimes I wind up with it pointed more upright than other times ... some of that probably depends on how poorly lit the roads I'm going to ride over are.

Bikes: A few

I think I see enough to avoid the flats. I have it (triled) pointed slightly down to pick up what is further ahead of me. I think I'm lucky then most, the roads here are usualy clean of that sort of debri, it's the loose rocks I worry about !

I have an E3 headlight with a Schmidt hub Dynamo, so yeah, I can see broken glass. I can even see insects on the road on dark country roads, too. That said, the amount of broken glass around here means that it's often virtually impossible to avoid it even if you do see it. The only real solution to the problem I see is get the most robust tyres you can (been using the Schwalbe Marathons and they seem pretty good), take precautions to avoid the biggest bits, and be prepared to incorporate picking the smaller bits out of your tyres on a regular basis (i.e. before they work their way through your tyre) into your bike maintenance schedule.

I just ignore it. I've only gotten a flat from it once, and that tire was so heavily worn that it actually just punched right through the centre of the carcass. It wasn't even pointy, a rock would have done the same.

I can easily see broken glass on the roadway with my night lights, and I generally ride right through it since I have some pretty stout kevlar equipped tires. I don't worry so much about the broken glass as I do about plastic and metal motor vehicle crash debris.

Generally yes, if the pavement is in good condition. Most of the time it just blends in. This morning I had no time to avoid some clearly present glass glittering in my line of travel due to a bus on my left. I just had to estimate the most clear route through it an pick out my tires later. Thank you Kevlar.

Please can we see a picture of said setup? Sounds awesome. I run a B&M cyo dynamo light, 1x Fenix L2D, 1x blinkie. Allows me to see a fair amount, not sure about glass though - haven't encountered that much however I am thinking I could do with another big light
