I absolutely love when there's construction on a street which forces traffic to go to an already-busy road. Usually stops for a half mile. Biking past everyone is always fun

Otherwise, it's probably pissing off the drivers which is going to make them more hostile especially towards bicyclists, so I'm kind of in the middle.

If it's so thick that cars are stopped, love it.

Otherwise, hate it. Everyone's antsy and distracted, in a rush to get home / to / from shops, it's dark and pissing down and there's 50% more cars moving faster than usual.

Not really. Traffic is pissing them off, but they're not malicious enough to wish harm ( or just being stuck ) on people who aren't contributing to the bottleneck. Drivers aren't happy when pedestrians go by faster on the sidewalk, either, but they don't hold it against walkers.

But it's fun from the bike side!

DC has some of the worst traffic in the country, which is one of the the main reasons I commute by bike. Traffic jams are such a regular part of my commute, I really don't take much notice anymore. I'm more focused on enjoying the ride. It doesn't seem very different here around the holidays traffic-wise. The days I have to drive to work, inevitably I'm caught and passed by several cyclists, never to be seen again. Now, that annoys me!

holiday traffic around here is awesome because there isn't any. Kids go home next week and aren't going to be back until next year.

That's definitely a source of satisfaction for us, bike commuters, but I'd rather ride on streets without traffic. Around here the traffic can get so thick that it becomes a problem even for a bike. And there is higher risk of getting doored from both sides, as people often get out of cars that are stuck in the traffic lane.

Some of the roads I ride on it is easy to get around stopped traffic on a bicycle but for others it is not. For the ones where it is not, holiday traffic is a PIA.

I hate it, but not because the roads are to narrow. I hate it because they are all in a rush to get home, get to the store (you should see them drive in the parking lots near where I live). People are just dumb this time of year when driving.

We don't all live in large urban areas with traffic congestion.

All the holidays has done is put a lot more people on the streets to fly and make turns without signaling. Trying to cross the street has turned from a hassle into a production number. It's a combination of luck, timing and skill, and nobody's thinking about you as much as they're thinking about hurrying up and getting to Tar-jay to get the Old Spice Gift Set for Uncle Fred.

For 1,000 different reasons, I honestly, honestly can't wait until this month is over. Moving on. Let's put 2010 behind us and get closer to our eventual destruction in December 2012. I just hope it's nice enough to bike around that day, if the Christmas traffic lets me.

Bikes: fixed gear recumbent trike

love not having a car, i can get in and out of the downtown core in minutes and park for free

its crazy here tho, cuz most ppl driving downtown during the holidays aren't from seattle proper, and often get confused and scare the livng *#**#*# out of me.

I hate it. This is the worst time of the year for accidents. More accidents then any other time of the year. A lot of rude people rushing all over the place trying to do their shopping, I've seen people get into serious arguments because of a parking space at a shopping plaza, everybody want's to park their car as close as possible to the enterence door of a store.. too lazy to walk a litle distance.

I hate it because I regularly have to ride around a mall parking lot in order to go to the grocery store that's on the opposite side of the mall from where I live (and there isn't really a good alternate route). It is NUTS how people drive in that parking area at this time of year. About 4x more cars, and they are way more aggressive and impatient than usual because they're all racing around fighting each other for parking spots. I'd suggest riding a bike instead...

LOVE it when I'm on my bike. Tolerate it when paid by the hour to drive a bus through it. HATE it when I'm in a car.
