Wald front fender, 2 bottle cages, toe clips and a Timbuk2 pannier... wife was good to me :)
(I gave her an Amazon wishlist as she hates getting gift cards, but doesn't like picking out an item from a group and wants to make sure I get what I need... boo Amazon, it told me when and what she purchased >:) no surprises here )

Pair of reflective ankle straps for when I'm not in riding clothes, a new midlayer fleece, a rear view mirror (yet to be installed), a new tactical flashlight for the helmet and a handlebar mounting system for my GPS or phone.

I got some much-needed cash to be put towards the purchase of a Surly Long Haul Trucker frame. Combined w/ a little I have from my bike commuting budget and a little creative accounting, I think I may be ordering that frame quite soon now!

My wife's gift for me took the form of a Groupon to an LBS that can be put towards a bike or accessories. Unfortunately they do not order Surly, I have since found out, but I need to buy some parts for the LHT build, so I hope to apply the Groupon to that effort.

Those are the brakes I have in mind for my Surly LHT build, if not right away then soon.

Cycling-specific wool socks, non cycling-specific wool socks, wicking underlayer top, gift certificate to go buy bike stuff :) , and some snow and wind to keep me off the bike yesterday.

A couple of weeks before xmas I bought a frameset and built it into fixed gear winter commuter with studded tires. Does that count?

My wife gave me a new bike, a Norco City Glide. The bad news is that I now have to part with my old Bianchi. :(

I'm having trouble understanding how the second half of your comment is related to the first half.

I got a powertap pro+ hub laced 3x to a mavic open pro rim :) Cool and bike related, but not so much commuting.

Yes. I've spent a lot of money in the last month. All of which I attribute to "Christmas".

Remember, Topeak makes waterproof bags now. You might want to look into that...

I assume you are referring to the MTX Trunk DryBag. Pretty neat, but I prefer the looks and design of the EX bag, even if I need a rain cover for wet days. If I lived in a climate that saw a lot of rain, I'd consider Topeak's DryBag products.

One problem I have is that whenever something I've bought is updated and/or upgraded, I develop a bad case of bike/accessory envy.

J&G helmet cover, Kool Stop tire jack, Nashbar Chain Master & DeFeet wool socks. My one eyed, two toothed, ancient, calico cat Lucy went crazy shopping for me! :) I don't think she picked out the Netgear wireless router though...

PS3 and FFXIII. Not too impressed with this new FF release.

No COD:Black Ops? or Gran Turismo 5???

Scooby214 12-29-10 08:56 AM

My gift items are all for my comfort bike turned commuter Schwinn Sierra GS:

Forte Contour Seat
Planet Bike fenders
Cateye headlight/tail light/cyclocomputer set
Nashbar rack

I was able to get the seat early because my stock seat was causing numbness when riding long distances.

I used Christmas money to buy:

Nashbar silver aluminum flat handle bars (to replace my black steel flat bars that were scratched up when I put them on)
Sram X-3 trigger shifters
Shimano 13-28 freewheel (still looking for a coveted, but discontinued 11-28 freewheel)
Sram Powerlink chain (I didn't want to use the old chain with the new freewheel)
A decent lock (any suggestions?)

I got a Nashbar Single speed 29er that is having an Alfine IGH built into the rear wheel as we speak. I'll use this bike primarily for off-road and as a secondary commuter, but now that I have it I'll probably never have another problem with my Volpe.

I asked for Black Ops but nobody got it for me :( . My wife refused to buy it for me because she bought me COD: MW2 last year and vowed to never do it again lol.

A MagicShine CT-808, wool socks, Descente winter gloves, and a new Shimano Freehub to rebuild my rear wheel.

I also got some Continental Gatorskins and Brooks handlebar tape. Check it out:
