rode home in a driving rainstorm last night. I swear that I thought that I saw a guy loading animals on a boat.

This morning: beautiful and sunny. Second flat in as many days. Happened on the MUP this time, in the time that it took me to switch out a tube approximately 70 million mosquitoes had responded to the event. :mad:

Another nice ride in 70 degrees, dry, light traffic.

On my way into work I encountered this strange phenomenon for about the ninth time. If I'm riding down the side of the road, approaching the light, people feel the urge to floor it and go around me, failing to realize that the light is red and all the cars are stopped in front of me. The guy this morning nearly rear-ended someone. Last week the lady that did this almost ran over 3 people crossing the street.

I had a similar experience yesterday where a guy stopped at a trail crossing for me and the lady behind him floored it, passed around him on the right, directly into my path.

I stopped in time and gave her an intense glare, seeing how we were so up close and personal. She knew that she was in the wrong but was already committed to the maneuver so she sailed past, averting her eyes.

Nice commute this morning, about 10C/50F and partially cloudy, no wind. Can't believe it's the middle of August already.

After nearly 10 months off the bike, and now 1 1/2 months back on the bike, the fitness is coming back. 5.35 miles, - 15 minutes and 45 seconds, driveway to driveway - woohoo. Now to start working on distance. Other than that beautiful morning, no cruise ships at the terminal today, and didn't get crapped on by a seagull like I did Monday morning.

Took a slightly longer route to work today, flat and pretty much windless, separate walking/biking lane through half the route. Bout 2 miles from work some guy in a Black Hyundai SUV starts blasting his horn behind me for a good half minute, pulls to my left and shouts out some choice words in between "get off the road," tries to cut me off (but since he's still going 15 he's only slowing me down a little), and then pulls off to the next parking lot. Really wish I installed that helmet cam I got a week ago from Amazon. Also felt extremely sorry for his kid, who was sitting shotgun with a face that looked like "Dad what the heck are you doing?" Best part is that this happened on a 2-lane road.

Really should have called the cops on him, but I was too stunned by the level of idiocy at the time (that, and I was running a little late). Saw him pull in to the same street where my office is, so I may have to do a little bit of searching later on. OTOH, ride was excellent otherwise.

Sort of a related note, there's a fairly new site called driver-ratings.com where you can submit reviews of drivers by license plate. Anyone bothering to use this? Would seem to have minimal effect if at all, but also wouldn't hurt if it catches on somewhat.

Got behind this guy on the way in today. Has a yard clean up service.

Scratch that... did not have to call the cops on him. Looking at a picture I took after he stopped and parked, noticed he was at the local police station! Had a nice chat with one of the officers, who told me he had come in and she gave him a good lecture of the traffic laws. At least he was acting proactively, I suppose.

55F and sunny, late again so rode w/ wife and kids to their various destinations

Yesterday was one of the worst commutes I've had. The weather was fine but my body just felt tired.

Today has been awesome. I rode my 7 miles to work with a smile on my face and enjoyed the cooler weather. Work has been pretty stressful so I decided to use my lunch break to throw on my clipless shoes, and ride down to the canal to eat my lunch.

Great day.

left work early, got lost taking a new way, 25MPH headwind. Stopped at a bike shop, test rode a Long Haul Trucker. yet another perfect ride. =)

HaHa! He went in to complain about you and got set right! Wouldn't you have liked to have been a fly on the wall watching that one?

Great ride in today. I'm back on my touring/commuting rig after worrying about a cracked rim for a while; I'm waiting for the new wheel to arrive and have been borrowing the financee's MTB, but I thought I'd chance it and go back to my own bike. After working hard all week getting the very upright fat tire bike up to speed, I felt pretty invincible on something that fits me better (spent most of the ride in top gear for the first time ever! And no, there wasn't a tailwind, although it was calm). I think I may look into a bigger outside chainring soon.

Nice ride in at 71F (22C). Another Orange Air alert today. I hate reading those alerts, which basically say don't exercise outdoors. It is sad that the air quality has come to this.

Another wonderful day. I lit up this morning, kinda weird. I think it was an airplane. Or someone somewhere shined a spotlight.

Actually, that bike has 18 speeds now. I tried it single-speed for a few months, but it wasn't kind to my knees, so I reinstalled the derailleurs and gears. My route is pretty hilly.

Another nice commute here this morning. It's a little warmer and more humid today, and I took it easy because my legs need a break. I've ridden 25 out of the past 30 days.

72F and rainy. Quite pleasant really. I was on the single-speed, sporting some new, smaller panniers (just big enough for laptop in one, and clothes in the other). The line at the coffee shop was really short because people didn't want to get out and get wet. :)

I have to leave work early and ride a 20-mile round trip for a test.

Had a very nice ride this morning. I've been away from it for several days due to various other commitments and it was so good to be pedaling again!

It was nice out, though I personally prefer the warmer weather we had in July to this slightly cooler temps we're getting in Southern Ontario now.

I uncorked it last night and smashed my route record by close to three minutes.

Today: First morning commute this week NOT interrupted by a flat. I was running a half hour late - It's funny how you get used to seeing certain people at certain places on the route. It was odd to see the usual cast of characters at different points on the route than usual.

Something that I forgot to mention yesterday is that on my route I usually see a lot of deer, but almost always does and fawns. Yesterday I saw two fork bucks, their antlers still covered in velvet.

Last thing: when I was riding home in the rainstorm the other day I had the MUP to myself. I rounded a corner and almost took out two wild turkeys who had no clue that I was coming.

We're finally getting a little break on the heat & humidity. I never thought there would come a day that I'd get excited about a high "only" in the low 90s. My route usually takes me through Piedmont Park in the morning and then I choose between that route and one through downtown in the afternoon. Since Tuesday a movie has been set up filming in the park, What to Expect When You're Expecting. On the way in it wasn't an issue, but the route home Tuesday involved riding over lots of giant power cables. Not ideal. This morning they were still there so downtown it is for the afternoon.
