Soupy. 58F / 14C and humid. Mild headwind. Lots of fog on the MUP. Pockets of warmer air that felt like riding through a steam room. Reeled in a roadie with huge panniers. I can't imagine he was comfortable. I just had a nylon jacket and shorts and I was hot. He was completely covered.

Saw a regular cyclist going the other way. Older guy. He always gives me an enthusiastic wave, and I return the greeting. Haven't seen him since last year.

back in the saddle after a week and a half of travel. It could have been snowing and 0F and it would have been a good commute.

As it was, 38F sunny and perfect.

Humid! I'm still sweating a little and I've been in the air conditioned office for over 20 minutes! Had to ride the MTB today while the commuter is in the shop getting some mechanical love. Felt really slow, but when I looked at my average speed it was only 1/2 of a mile per hour slower... Between the great equalizer of stoplights, and my speed advantage on the unpaved portions of the commute, I made adequate speed.

Didn't ride in as my wife thrust the baby at me at the last minute (usually she takes care of her in the morning) and I had to watch her for a while and got a late start to my day.

28F (-1C) and clear, with wet streets from heavy rain/snow overnight. My fingers got a bit cold in the lightweight gloves that I chose for the ride - my mid-weight gloves would have been a better choice today.

Took my Aurora today. Felt fast compared to my beater, do everything bike. However, I am beginning to appreciate just how small that bike is for me. Compared to my position on the beater, the bike felt cramped. Maybe I bring the winter project bike out for tomorrow.

Weather was a bit humid for my tastes, but summer is coming, so I better get used to it.

2C, calm, a bit cloudy. Swapped the studded knobby tires for slicks last night, which made the ride much quieter, but no faster.

6C/44F today, saw a skunk and a raccoon crossing the road in front of me on my ride in this morning. Waking up was tough as I was up late doing my wifes and my taxes. She's never done taxes before. Apparently in Japan you just take all the forms to the local tax office and they do the work for you. Canada is so bass ackwards. It poured rain on me on the way in and the inside of my waterproof gloves was soaked. I guess it's time to move to the lighter gloves as that's probably all sweat.

messing around with the bars on my bike last night, forgot to tighten the stem the rest of the way..
bombing down a hill (bike with gears today), pull on the brakes, bars rotate forward, HOLY ****ING **** i screamed as i cruised thru a 4 way stop as drivers shook their fist at me..

luckily i got to pull over and and tighten the living **** outta that stem

For me, I pushed a button for a crossing signal at one leg of a new traffic circle below my house, and a person on the other side stopped, and got rear-ended. I stopped to talk to them, give her my contact info. The guy who hit her said the light just changed and he thought he could make it. Gotta drive according to what the car in front of you does, not what it would do if you were driving it too...

Also, I was glad she stopped 'cause my kids cross there and they're not as visible as me on a bike so cagers don't know if the kids are on their side or the other side.

Anyway...

Oh yes, boatloads of slugs on the trail today. I guess the prevailing mollusc conditions are warming up from 'clammy' to 'sluggy'

Oh, dude, glad to hear the wheel didn't turn on ya. *shudders*

It was 60F and raining as I prepared to leave. Loaded up the LHT and noticed the rear tire was flat. First flat on the Marathons. I move the bag over to the single speed and head out the door.

The rain stopped almost immediately. It was starting to become a perfect ride, then something felt funny on the left crank. I pull over and the bolt is loose. I tighten it as much as I can with a multi-tool and continue to work. I'll need to get something with more leverage to really tighten in.

my wife was riding behind me and came up me after i stopped to yell at me for blowing the stop sign....

Was thoroughly enjoying my commute home last night as the gusty headwinds of the previous two night's commutes was finally gone. Then, just as I start really cuising, the back end of the bike feels loose. Yes, a flat. Can't complain as it has been 2 1/2 years since I've flatted on a commute. I replace the tube, pump it up and continue on my way. Once home, I top off front and rear tires and install the new rack trunk that had arrived earlier in the day (wanted to dump the panniers during the warmer months as I am not carrying as much stuff).

When I grabbed the bike to head out this morning, rear was flat again. Not sure if the replacement tube (which had been previously patched and tested) was the culprit or if I missed the cause of the flat in the tire (though I did a pretty thorough check) or I might have snake-bit the tube riding with the pressure a bit low (being close to home when I flatted, I didn't bother getting the tire up to full pressure but maybe should have). So it sits in the garage and I drove to work.

I once had a stem break off while I was riding an old mountain bike. I managed to gently apply the brakes and get stopped without wiping out. In retrospect there were plenty of signs of metal fatigue that I shouldn't have ignored.

I finished my school commuting for the semester on Monday, so yesterday I decided to head out to smooth road just west of the city. If you like straight flat roads this is the place to be. There is a dead straight section 6.5km long that was freshly paved in the fall. The only downside is the road leading to it doesn't have a paved shoulder. However this year they are supposed to pave another 3km to the north which is currently gravel.



There was a 30km/h South wind yesterday. So going south I could only managed about 19km/h, but when I turned around to come back I was able to cruise at 45km/h. As you can see, straight but not much in the way of scenery.

Meh.... didn't make it. One of the people in the meeting is leaving the company and so they had a going-away dinner tonight; I didn't want to miss that. Maybe next time.

Still at it and going strong. Love the time on the bike and the gas savings. Today watched the rain come down HARD but stopped and dried up before I took off for home. Mid 60's for the morning and low 80's for home trip.

Gorgeous weather for the ride home - sunny and cool, mid 50's F.

I just asked my boss today (told her someone in DC had seen one) and she said they had sold all 10 they had ordered already and are ordering more. The Lincoln Marathon is this weekend and one of the people who bought one isn't able to run this year so they asked her to be a pacesetter and she is riding one of these Elliptigos for that so thats good for marketing etc. I have to go down there and try one out it might be something we do when my mother in law and her boyfriend are in town for mother's day since they are bike or exercise freaks and probably would find it interesting.

My commute home was nice except the few blasts of wind where I wondered if I was going forward despite pedaling. There were a few stretches I was really glad I was on a road bike. The Le Tour continues to feel like such a fantastic bike and I am glad I ended up with it. Later in the evening I thought I would get stuck riding through a big storm, but it stopped raining and was a nice fresh mile home.

Quite hot around 12.00 here, temperature should be around 33-36 C ํ.

Next month i'm sure to be burned alive here.lol

3rd day of the week, 3rd bike of the week, nothing technical just my add showing. Today was single speed and it was a joyous ride, 30F in the am ride in and 56F on the way home. I have a track meet tomorrow and work right after so single speed again so I can get there quick.

Rode in breezy dark and quiet weather at 75 F ( 24 C). I checked the weather before heading out, and had to think hard, which is too much work in the early morning. I decided to go as fast as I could, and made it with only one lighting flash to the east. A little bit of rain dropped on me, but not enough to get wet. These kinds of mornings where I just don't know where the weather is coming from are the most diffcult, on which to make a decision about riding.

Nice and sunny today, with a little bit of a headwind on the way home. Nice to be back on the bike after a few days off work and a little vacation out of Shanghai.

Almost ran into a pedestrian who walked right into my path at an intersection, though. Was able to slow down and swerve just in time.

low to mid 50's, no wind, stars out. I can't complain. quick and easy.

After threatening to rain for days, it never did, and I was rewarded this morning with a cool (for us) crisp morning. No cars buzzed me, had a nice, fast ride, wind died down. It was fantastic.
